I've been away from loved ones for two separate years worth of holidays. The first was spent in Baghdad, Iraq and the second was Khost, Afghanistan. To the Armys credit they did a bang up job providing as many comforts as they could during holidays. Even when I was at a middle of no where COP in Afghanistan they managed to provide us with one of the best Thanksgiving meals I'd ever had. It obviously couldn't replace missing family, but leadership going above and beyond to provide the comforts they did meant A LOT.

On a ship in the Med or the Persian Gulf. 6 long cruises most of them during the holidays.
