On June 1st the Army was supposed to release the hot weather uniform according to ALARACT 027/2019. I haven't heard anything else about it, can't find it at clothing and sales, not online and most people aren't tracking this. Does anyone know where it stalled? Why can't I get them?

If history repeats itself, and the army is fielding a new hot weather uniform, then the next war will be in freezing cold conditions, somewhere like: Alaska, Newfoundland, Greenland, Norway, Sweden, Russia, etc.

I'm currently here at Fort Benning Sergeant. They were supposed to release them June 1st here and at 2 in Hawaii. However when I went Saturday to buy them they told me it's delayed and they don't know when it'll be available.. Bummer.

SGT (Join to see) - I have been searching the internet trying to find the IHWCU for the last two weeks. This is literally the only piece of information I have seen explaining what's going with getting this in stock. Thank you for sharing!

CW5 Jack Cardwell it says some units may issue it as TA-50 organizational clothing. That means issued at CIF. Not for sale in clothing sales. SGT (Join to see)

Paragraph 2 of ALARACT 027/2019 reads:"ON 26 OCTOBER 2018 THE CHIEF OF STAFF OF THE ARMY APPROVED THE IMPROVED HOT WEATHER COMBAT UNIFORM (IHWCU) AS AN OPTIONAL PURCHASE ITEM. AFTER 1 JUNE 2019, SOLDIERS CAN PURCHASE THE IHWCU FROM MILITARY CLOTHING SALES STORES FOR WEAR IN LIEU OF THE OPERATIONAL CAMOUFLAGE PATTERN (OCP) ARMY COMBAT UNIFORM." Soldiers can purchase the IHWCU from military clothing and sales stores means that Soldiers CAN purchase these from clothing and sales in addition to potentially receiving these as a piece of TA-50.

Yes its next to the wool uniform we used back in the day. Joking aside the best hot weather uniforms I used was the old jungle fatigue's

Wore those for a bit in another organization, and loved them.

Make them in OCP, I'll be happy.

I was issued mine as an RFI item right before deployment, like 2 weeks before we left. So if they are being fielded through RFI right now I would not be surprised if they are back logged.
They arent much cooler than the OCP-FR, still not as cool as the combat shirts. Also, they dont have back pockets for your wallet or magazine when you clear your weapon. They are cool to have, but not worth spending money on. I would wait for it to be issued to you.

Since when did anyone complain that pockets made them hot? Weird design choice...

SGT Christopher Hayden pockets extra layers of fabric that could build heat in. Even in a couple small spots.

MSG (Join to see) I feel like if it's hot enough at that point, you're not going to notice not having pockets.

SGT Christopher Hayden Lol right? In all truth though, these were originally designed for the guys stationed and deployed it humid hot weather climates since the military hasn't used hit weather type uniforms since the tried and true BDU days. Since more deployments and TDY destinations are ramping up in parts of Asia and Africa the last few years, it makes sense to develop uniforms and equipment to work in those environments.

I am trying to figure out how much lighter they really are? The standard issue OCP’s are pretty lightweight as it is. Besides, it’s all the other gear that makes you really hot and not the OCP itself. In my unit, we wear the combat shirts under our gear which helps a lot to keep you cooler.

I’ve managed to find a couple tops and they are night and day. They are the most comfortable uniform piece I’ve worn and they breathe really well. I was able to find them at a surplus shop off post but I can’t find the bottoms so they aren’t doing me a lot of good right now.

I only have the tops. They weigh almost exactly 1lb. They do breath much better too. If there is a good breese at all I can feel it through the uniform. I'm at IBOLC right now and clothing and sales is currently sold out of everything but the XLs. No date for resupply

Can’t find the link but an article I read said the new uniform would be 1lb lighter, and dry from soaking wet in 60min.

Hoping they might have some of these available at Sill later this year when I go. Would be nice to pick up a set just to see if they are any cooler.
