Which historic military sites have been the most memorable for you?

The one that made my skin crawl was Andersonville. It was a Civil War POW camp in Georgia. Very eerie.

Don't know if The Wall qualifies as an historic military sight but there are some names on it I'll never forget. Otherwise call it a tossup between the Battleship Arizona memorial and the Punchbowl, The National Cemetery of the Pacific.

Gettysburg. specifically Little Round Top

Andersonville National POW Memorial & Museum in Georgia. Took a staff ride there while in the last phase of WOCS and it was an amazing experience.

Has to be Arlington National Cemetery Tomb of the Unknowns.

Mt. Suribachi on Iwo Shima with my Marines.

Pearl Harbor. I went to the USS Arizona Monument. Even though I wasn't around at the time the attack occurred, my family's Naval Roots brought an unexpected well of emotions. Particularly when you notice the oil that till leaks from the ship. And when you contemplate what happened and the fact that the crew is still on board, it's emotionally gripping.

I agree. Gettysburg is a very humbling experience. I personally have a half a dozen family members, relatives, who fought there on the confederate side. Some who did not survive the battle. Kind of makes it personal to me.

Bastogne, Belgium . We were on a trip from Southern Bavaria to Brussels with the VFW. We stopped and laid a wreath at their Tomb of the Unknowns, then had a champagne Brunch at the Lord Mayor's Office then to the "Nuts" Museum.
