It's not about any one particular branch having the best salute. It's about the individual, and the attention to detail they want to put into it.

This thread brings back a memory of my tech school at Fort Leornard Wood, MO. We had a 2LT commander and a 2LT exec. The commander was a mustang the exec a fresh out of college newbie.
The exec was spit and polish and had a very crisp military salute. The CO, when saluted, would give you a "look" then raise his hand, and lower his head until he gave a return salute. He sort of made you feel like "Please don't salute me."
