If a soldier is running in PT uniform and revelry sounds, does that soldier stop and salute?

I can remember several occasions where we stopped the PT formation on a run and came to present arms.
Not saying that we were standing at the most rigid positions of attention, but it never occurred to us to not come to a halt quickly enough to render proper honors during reveille.
By the way, SSG (Join to see), it is "reveille" that signals the start of the day. Revelry should have ceased several hours prior.

I did say "should have ceased", GySgt Kenneth Pepper.
I can recall running in more than one formation which deserved a "No open flames within 50 feet" warning.

What I don't understand is the OP is a SSG and doesn't know what every day 1 private knows.

CW2 (Join to see) - Actually it is not. Every person whether NG, AR or AD enlists and goes through bct. In BCT it is taught through, word and deed and constant reinforcement that at 0700 and 1700 when the flag is raised and lowered that all personnel come to a halt in whatever they are doing, face the direction of the flag and if military salute, or place your hand over your heart if non-military. This does not change post to post. It is always the same.

SSG Brian G. and 1LT Clardy - what both of you state is accurate. My point, probably not well stated, is that as a reservist, we do not all drill on a military installation/post. I’m currently on Gillem Enclave and reveille or retreat has not been played at any of the small reserve buildings I have been at and thus a lot of those customs have been forgotten through my own fault. I only speak for myself. One would wish one could remember everything you’re trained for but unfortunately, the mind doesn’t work that way. I’ve had to relearn things along the way (when I attend PME) and learn new things at every duty location. Once again, just my experience and my own 2 cents.

CW2 (Join to see) - Ok, I get that but in your unit do you not attend annual training at some post or base, or training facility. There, they most assuredly do observe the military customs.

SSG Brian G. Thanks for understanding. Mostly been to home station AT which means we stay at our own reserve bldg to work and maybe they'll take us for a day or 2 to stay in on post barracks and conduct WQ like for example at Ft. Dix or Fort McClellan. I don't think they play them in the outskirts of training areas but maybe I've not paid attention. I did live on an Air Force post once and we had to stop cars and get out. Not sure I've seen that at other posts... but again… don’t go on post much…
