Anyone else? Been using a 5/8 Solingen for about a month and just bought a new 6/8 (below). I love straight razor shaving. It used to be a daily chore, now it's daily entertainment. The shave is so superior to regular razors and a hell of a lot cheaper than $25/5 pack after the initial purchase.

It's scary at first - but awesome once you get it. Lynn at straight razor designs has a lot of tutorial videos on youtube to get you started. I have a VERY think beard, and I was able to learn. Took a few months and a few cuts, but I'm happy I did it.

CPT - you won't cut yourself as much as you think. This was my fear as well. I got a few knicks, but nothing horrible. And once you "get it", you'll love it. One of the barbers in A'stan shaved my neck with a straight, and I was obsessed with learning how to do that since. The shave is so superior to normal razors that it couldn't be ignored.

I haven't used mine in 45 years at least. It is still in my drawer.
When I joined Army it was too much trouble to continue.
Must quicker and less chance for mistakes with a six blade disposable razor.

I have since I was a LCpl, started because I got tired of trying to pack 6 months worth of razors before deployment.

If I had more then a weak mustache and 7 chin hairs I would be intrigued with trying it out.

Maj Ian Dews - I will even give a thumbs up when it is a good post lol. Lord, I apologize for that right there. Be there with the starving pygmies in New Guinea, amen.

I use a straight razor regularly but not on myself... lol

MAJ (Join to see) and SSG Derrick L. Lewis:

Would you gentlemen be kind enough to provide your recommendations for straight razor products with links? I looked into getting started before but couldn't tell if I was looking at good razors and don't want to get ripped off. Could y'all provide your sources?

I long ago converted to soap and brush lather. It is my one indulgence I take to the field. I would like to make the final leap to the straight razor.

Thanks for the thread! Very informative!

You are a braver man than I! I'll just stick to my tried, true and blue Gillette Goodnews disposables.

Shaving is a delicate procedure that requires exactness as well as security. There are a lot of shavers accessible in the market that does not have any or none of these. In any case, just the Braun shaver can give you an everlasting happy with shaving background that you won't discover in any shavers out there. for more info: https://electricshaverlab.com/best-shape-up-clippers-edgers
