Both of my parents served during WWII mother USMC father USNavy and the stories they told about friend ship was a big part.

I was attending a local college at the time, but was tiring of being in my hometown, feeling that I wanted to get out and explore other places. Fortunately, a Marine recruiter happened to be around, who offered me another alternative to my query for traveling. As I walked into the recruiting station, an Army recruiter picked me up and gave me a great deal to enlist. I had taken him up on it, and did just that, to no regret, as of this day. I wish I could remember who that Marine was.

I was influenced by a high school buddy who had just been accepted into the Air Force Academy. I joined a reserve officer candidate program in the Naval Air Reserve because I, too, wanted to fly.
