My cousin who enlisted and went to BCT the summer she graduated from high school (1981). Thirty plus years later I have no regrets. Its one of the best decisions I’ve made so far.

My older brother, Bud, who was a Navy vet escorted me to the recruiting office.

CMDCM David Johnsen, I sense that the word "escorted" meant that you may have been in a headlock while heading to the recruiting office? I admit to doing something like that to one of my younger brothers.

I have to thank the Air Force for completely turning my life around and giving me a good life. I became disabled 20 yrs after retirement and with SSD and long term disability and retirement, I still live a good life!

I wanted to do my military obligation.
I was inspired by my father and my high school guidance counselor.

I think the main person would be my Dad-26 years in the Air Force. But I decided to follow my Brother's choice of the Army...24 years....Loved every minute of it.

Yes, I had two uncles who joined the military during Vietnam Era. They joined the Marines and I joined the Army.
Plus, I was from a small town in Texas and I knew that joining would change my life for the better.
