My father had a recruiter sitting in the living room waiting for me when I got home from school.

My older step-brother influenced my decision to join when I did. I wanted to join the Army from the age of about 7. When Chuck joined the WVNG at 18, I was peeved. I could out-do him at almost everything from the time I was 13, so being 16 when he joined just chapped me that I couldn't. Until a year later, when I was 17 (and aced the ASVAB) and joined the USAR. I went active duty in 1989 and loved/hated it until my retirement in 2011.
