Who is your favorite author?

SSG (Join to see) & MSgt (Join to see) I've read the entire Mitch Rapp series twice...first as I came across the books, then in order. I hope Kyle Mills is able to fill those shoes.

I loved Piers Anthony's "Incarnation of Immortality" series....

I did too, sir! The Xanth series and Adept series are both great too. Even his very early stuff like the Bio of a Space Tyrant or Cthon were hard to put down. I don't think I've ever read something of his that I didn't enjoy.

MSG Greg Kelly, I've only recently gotten into John Ringo. Overall I like his stuff, particularly how he uses his own experience as a paratrooper in the 82nd to bring a degree of realism and accuracy into his stories. But I have noticed that he tends to recycle motifs a lot between his different series.

MSG Greg Kelly, it's not a matter of not finishing series, but more that he jumps between writing them. His "Black Tide Rising" (aka Zombie) series is actually not left hanging, but in the active process of being written. The 3rd book was released back in August and the last book will be released in January or February or next year. I'm currently reading his "Legacy of Aldenata" series (the one about the Posleen War).

MSG Greg Kelly, even there, he really has not left it. "Eye of the Storm" came out recently, and it is the first book in the next trilogy of the "Aldenata" series. I have heard that he will wrap up the trilogy with the two upcoming books. Did you also read the spin-off books of that series (ie Cally's War trilogy, Watch on the Rhine, Yellow Eyes, Tuloriad, the Hero)? Those books actually give more background and link "Eye of the Storm" with "Hell's Faire".

Col Burleson--interesting about Lee Child's book, you too are a brat, french mother? My mother was born in Verdun, my father SF NCO..I do have a few books on Amazon-History of Etruria Italy, and Sovereigns, Dynasties & Nobility. One about German and Italian POWs in Alabama in WWII is being converted from a newspaper series I once wrote to a book, and several others are in the works........

Tom Clancy - but then again I am partial as he was a keynote speaker for a Dining Out at Dover AFB, DE during the early 90's. He has passed but not missed. He supported the men and women who served their country.

My mom was born and raised in Paris and my dad was a career Army officer. He was an 0-5 (P) when he married her after the war (she was 17 years old -- 23 years younger than him). They were married for almost 50 years when he died. I lived in Paris for most of the first 14 years of my life.

COL Burleson, thanks for sharing that. Must have been a wonderful adventure. THere are times when I imagine that as very thrilling but also realize how tough it was for all...wonder if you knew the Korslunds at Paris American High School or if you were in Scouting there (I collect old Scout stuff from Europe and serve as National Rep for BSA in Europe) My late father was a young enlisted soldier from Oklahoma stationed in various places in France. Parents met in Paris and married --42 years until she died in 1995. Her parents were from Italy. I remember her mother, my grandmother living in a bombed out house. My two brothers were born in Paris, I was born at Ft Belvior, then to Munich less than a year old, frequent visits to france. We were in Germany from 55-62, then Panama, then back to Germany (always visiting France, Italy). My own tours included Belgium, Germany (3), Italy, and other parts of the world. Uncles visit every few years, but they are all dropping off, hence the book Man on the Floor! begins with France...send email to Coberlyd1@yahoo if you'd like to see any chapters. D
