I don't know of any regulations that provide funding or housing for those stopped in-route, but the Army hasn't released anything official to provide for affected families... We've got people who've already moved out of houses, shipped cars, etc., being held on station for 30 days or more! What are the other services doing to take care of people?

Stopped in route or still at old duty station? I am sure a solution is in the works.

I only know of a few stopped before movement (at losing station). I imagine those already moving between stations would only suffer the 14-day quarenteen.

Haven't seen anything from military.mil or Stars & Stripes pertaining to your question yet!

COL David Turk Yes Sir, that's the biggest issue. They've already cleared housing and are staying in a hotel with the entire family and no car. We can reinstate and prorate BAH, but that won't cover the cost of a hotel for almost 2 months and the likelihood of finding an affordable, furnished apartment for that time is slim to none. TLA/TLE won't cover that time, Per diem isn't authorized anywhere as far as I can find, and barracks/military lodging that can accommodate a wife & kids hasn't been provided.

MSG (Join to see) as I mentioned above, maybe DOD will get involved and direct the AF to use military transports on a restricted bases for screened personnel transport. If I was the EUCOM commander, I seriously consider that option.

I appreciate all of the quick feedback so far! To clarify: I'm sure higher Leaders are working on this question as we speak. As 'middle-management', I wonder if we can find a suitable, temporary solution within the regulations and resources already available. I'd love to hear of any solutions being implemented by other installations or services.

Wonder if DoD would direct the Air Force to handle a screened military and families transport program in EUCOM. If I was EUCOM commander, I would seriously look at that option.

I am curious about this as well. Especially with the new 30 travel ban in and out of Europe.

Good morning. This might help. Go to:

The Health.mil website is the organizational web presence for the Military Health System.

It’s affected now. If I heard correctly, for the next thirty days, all inbound travel from Europe is restricted to Americans that have been screened. With the reduction in inbound travelers, airlines should be cutting way back on aircraft in that corridor.

I have a tentative BOLC date for later in the summer. I’m waiting to see how this will affect it.

MAJ (Join to see) - We really do not have good information outside of panic and paranoia and I believe that will be worse for most of us than the actual disease. Go to CNN.com and your favorite nightly news to see how bad the panic will be. When Biden won Super Tuesday and was the headline for a couple of days, the panic died down. Now it is back. Having worked with very sick people since 2007, including a 22yo that almost died from H1N1 in 2010, nothing about this alarms me anymore than the last scare.

I am not worried about it either. Yes if you are elderly or have a lot of health conditions this could be very bad, but a lot of the people freaking out over this don’t even routinely get a flu shot. People need to keep things in perspective. MAJ Byron Oyler

MAJ (Join to see) - Be sure to stock up on items you think people will panic buy up. Two years ago a hurricane hit the gulf cost and 2.5hours inland people went bat shit crazy buying gasoline to the point you could barely get any for over a week. I hate to encourage these practices but those of us that do not panic should not suffer at the hands of those that do. When San Antonio ran out of gas I already had ten gallons as I studied emergency and disaster management for my grad degree.
