My son asked me, "Dad, what happened to the rainbow?" I replied, "What do you mean Son?" He explained, "The rainbow used to be a sign from God after it stormed that God wouldn't flood the entire earth again. But now when people show it the mean other things."

He is right. Rainbows used to be so simple a sign. These days, it has meant everything from a military unit, a high-tech vaccuum cleaner, an expensive car wash, etc. in recent times it stood for Jesse Jackson's political organization. Now, everytime mykids see a rainbow on a car sticker, a flag, a button, a poster, or even a small garden flag, they ask me if the person who put it there is gay. Now with the White House lighted in the colors of the rainbow, itis harder to answer the question. I have no issues with anyone or group adopting the rainbow as its symbol. But everywhere I look I see the rainbow not being used as simply a rainbow. It is being used to make a statement.

What happened to a rainbow simply being a rainbow? "No Son. It doesn't necessarily mean the person is gay. It could mean the person simply likes rainbows."

I like the real meaning of Rainbows. The Bible tells us that the rainbow did not occur until after Noah's flood. God gave it to us as a promise that He would never destroy the earth with a flood again. Now you can equate it to any meaning you want!

I'm glad I'm not the only one who feels this way. The rainbow is a covenant between God and man. Just as Satan has used Islam to twist religion the gays have taken the rainbow and twisted it's meaning.

Refraction of light separated through water by prismatics into different wavelengths(colors). Adopted as a symbol by various groups like any other universal natural phenomena for different ideas and causes.

So, you haven't broken it to him that it is an optical effect of the sunlight's refraction through water droplets?
