Why all the silly questions and copy-paste-post of obscure news?

Seems like many are posting non-sense questions and copy pasting obscure news articles. It's outstanding that folks want to be involved, but come on really! Are the points that important to you? Shouldn't we actually post discussions that pose a question that provokes thoughtful, content-based responses! A lot of these discussions only receive one or two responses, but I suppose if you flood us enough with them it might get you a few points and they will start to add up. I really don't want to be disrespectful but asking what time I get up or how I tie my shoes etc, etc is really boring and annoying. I know I'm not the only one who feels this way and I'm sure I will be slammed by some. But it is only my opinion and don't amount to a hill of beans. Personally I love the questions on world affairs, veteran issues or anything that will help our serving members today. I actually don't mind the political discussions if they are legit and provoke reasonable discussions. If I offended anyone I apologize but I just had to rant and get it off my chest. I hope you have a good day and I won't be offended if you tell me I'm crazy and out of my mind!

It would seem as if Rally Point means (Gather all your points) much like a pinball machine.
But that is not true, Rally Point to me is an area (Point) where we (Service members and Veterans) can come together (Rally) to post, discus, teach and learn on the topic we know best that is related to what we do or did best.
I personally stopped posting because some time ago ( 3 years) I noted some actual SM and Veteran posting comments that lead me to think they wanted to end there life. I don't know what happened or what was the out come, but I assure you, that's why we are here. I can read about who is running for president in the news and draw my own conclusions, but the SM and Veteran ( I pay close attention too).
In addition, there are Employers who are also liked to RP and do read many of the titles posted and responses.
Perhaps we can hide our names and pictures, but the topics and responses that one may find questionable may also be questionable to the employer as well. Questionable to the point of (Do I really want to hire a Veteran?).
I gave up on the points and resorted to being true to my fellow men.
Sometimes someone here in RP is really having a hard time, they ask for help and this never gets to be seen because of the many as you said Msgt Curtis Borders are too busy trying to compete with points rather then to hear someone who may need help. I will give all the new members 1 year before they start to slow down and realize what they are actually doing here.
Too many posts may be a cry for help.

Yeah, I agree with you. I just ignore them, but it is an annoyance. I too would like to see less drivel and more substance. But, then who is the judge? I might think that it is very important to discuss the relationship between Mini Mouse and Micky Mouse.

Does it happen in a bar, Sir? Because that previous analogy went south really fast... Lol
(p.s., I was tracking 100%.)

I am woman enough to admit that I am totally tracking the break-up. I also watch the new Muppets show weekly. I also have all the Muppets' movies in my entertainment arsenal. Boom. ((drops mike)) :)

I love muppet movies. Unfortunately my spouse thinks they are silly childishness and not entertaining at all.

Maybe the people posting actually find the topic interesting....or maybe the poster wants to know what others think about the topic......or maybe the topic really ticks off the poster...there are so many reasons...and just because you may not be interested in many of the topics, others are....otherwise there would not be any responses to the posters.
It's not just all about points.

Thanks for your input MSgt! I know exactly what you mean! I've screwed up several Post but I do try to make them all interesting and thought provoking to the group. However, no one is perfect and we will get carried away and screw up. lol

About effing time, Thank you MSgt.
I am thinking the same damn thing over and over... I can't handle another "what's you favorite MRE"- question. There needs to be a 5th category, that is optional just called "Nonsense".

I agree with you. I have seen this often. I recall a long time ago this was an issue. It just keeps going. There is always a new member that does something just like you are saying. I think we all know who does this the most. I try to do what I an to post good content but there are so many others out there post some random thing about what was their favorite breakfast in basic training.

CMSgt (Join to see) - LOL, You know what I actually did. I was wondering what happened to you. I haven't seen you around here in a while. I have been pretty busy and I am about to PCS to Benning. So I am getting everything put together to move. It is nice to see an old friend. ;)

I had surgery in Sept, then returned to a new Division. Busy as h*ll, Sir! It's not easy when everyone wants part of my mad ninja skills. :)
How's the move going? Crazy?

CMSgt (Join to see) - I am still getting ready to sell my house. Being in the National Guard we don't really PCS much. So when we do it is about as smooth as cheese grader. I am still waiting on orders but I am should be reporting to Benning on the 15th. And the best part of this is that I will still be drilling in NC one weekend a month. But I found a place down there. I am just waiting for the word to move.
I hope you are doing well after your surgery. I also hope it didn't hinder any of those mad Ninja Skills.

It's so all these people with hundreds and hundreds of thousands of points, who adamantly say points don't mean anything on RP, can get more points with those asinine questions, and then be the top dog in their rank or grouping!!! This website showed so much promise, but its foundation is a big game that everyone plays but says they don't!!!

SCPO (Join to see) I have not come across any one personally that are after points....and besides. What is the Point? There is no reward...nothing to gain by these points...at least as far as I can tell...so why would some members be after racking up these points? Why can't it be that there are some members who just like posting stories/events/situations that they like or find interesting or find irritating?
I don't get it....if there is nothing to gain....Maybe RP should just remove this point system thing.
For the longest time...actually till just recently...I thought the points just showed who on Rally Point spend a lot of time here and actually participated....it shows which members have a voice and like to express themselves/feelings/views/thoughts.
I just can't believe how a point system can make people so cynical.
