SPC (Join to see) A lot of soldiers really don't know what our job entails. They only see us either serving or just doing Head Count. They don't see the prep, set-up, cooking, cleaning ect that goes with the job.

There is nothing better for the Infantry to look forward to than a hot meal when out in the field. Thank you to all you 92G's.

I hate that people do that. The military has Master Chefs and I think you have to be really smart for that. Plus we do not place one job over another.. People get hungry.

SPC (Join to see) your job is one of the most important jobs in the service. Nothing is enjoyed more than a hot meal coming out of a FTX.
Never mess with the supply or the food SGT you will regret it

Just a stigma. It is worse in the infantry.

Tell me about it. There are plenty of guys in the infantry below that 100 mark, but tons over it. Over half of my platoon has above 110 and several close to 130. All GT measures is your ability to learn, process, and do on the fly with little instruction. Aren't we all told to adapt and overcome on a daily basis, no matter the MOS.

It is an underestimation of our Quartermaster brethren as a 92Y there are jokes that are common amongst the brother and sisters in the corp but people forget that there are three people you want as friends, your cooks, medics and supply. I saved the best for last on purpose.

Who classifies them as dumb? I have never heard of this. It takes a lot of skill to be a cook. So whoever is saying that sort of thing is not that bright themselves.

Having been a previous MOS, I think it was more of the "Aside from Weapons Quals, those Cooks don't do shit!" Unfortunately, some Cooks assigned to the Units I were in, couldn't qualify by themselves.

Then again I've met some cooks who were culinary geniuses. The could make an MKT meal taste like a five star feast. It all depends on the individual soldier.

Is it a low score required to become one? Cuz I know in the Navy, our Aviation Ordinancemen are typically cracked on and made fun of, simply because they require a low ASVAB score to be an AO. But I've known one or two to be pretty smart.

SSG Robert Webster - That's not meant to be offensive in any way, SSG. Just a statement of the ones I know, some being smart and others being overly arrogant because they lift bombs. I imagine it's tough work but there's no need to be saying, "If you ain't Ordinance you ain't sh--."

PO2 (Join to see) - Maybe I should have added an "lol" to the end of my statement. I know that you were not being offensive in you statement and that it was meant as a colloquial comment. I do know that some individuals do not get or understand a sailor's humor. I did have an uncle in the Navy as an AD.

SSG Robert Webster - Oh the sense of humor of an AD haha. That's a special one, among AM's and AS's. I guess Aviation has a way with your head. But no hard feelings, Sir. I completely understand that text isn't very easily interpreted as hearing someone talk.

I think the Army tries to label people, just as in any other organization. Fact of the matter is, when I first joined active duty, they needed cooks and truck drivers so bad that they were throwing max bonuses to them. So plenty of people that just wanted to join the army to get the education benefits and some quick money joined those type of M.O.S. I will say that most of my fellow cooks had low GT scores in my particular section but mine was 112 and I even knew a guy in our dining facility from another unit that had like a 128 or some crazy number like that
