Looking to re-enlist Prior USMC service 0311
Looking to become CID then a WO In the USA or USMC
Should I jump through the hoops the marines want me to or should I enlist in the Army (reserves for either one) is a 31B (military police) the best route or will an intelligence MOS will be the path of least resistance?

You already know the Marine mindset, go with what You already know. Any professional endeavor will require your best effort and diligence, whether its Military or civilian. By the way, where do You see yourself five years from now? Lewis

I have lived my entire life by putting my best foot forward and with the u understanding that reward comes to those who put in the time effort and work. Since I left the USMC I have completed 3 Associates degrees going forward to complete my bachelors. Made a career in the financial and banking industry help my mother put my sister through mes school at UCLA bought the first family house and last year bought an investment property. Helping my wife to complete her engineering degree at USC.
Where do I see my self in 5 years hopefully as a CID in the army or marines. Working in financial crimes and investigations. Have used my gi bill to finish paying my wife’s school (usc engineering is super expensive). After my term of contract is over maybe in a federal law enforcement agency of some sorts. With my business growing so I will have plenty of money when I retire and my children and my children well off so money is never an issue when perusing their dreams like my family and I have had. Hope it answers your question

PFC A G have you thought about going to a CO school by chance? Might as well since your getting your degree. Just a thought. Good luck either way.

Everything under the DOD umbrella is a bureaucracy therefore, no matter where you go, what you try to do, there is a boat load of crap you have to go through to do anything. The Army makes you jump through tons of hoops for literally anything that will promote your career, just the same as the marines. It's stupid, but hey it if wasn't, bureaucrats wouldn't have a job.

You aren't a Recruiter, right?

I get that there will be a lot of hoop jumping in either place ... solely based on my experience USMC lites the hoops on fire plays the circus music and hope you burn... hypothetically speaking .
The army doesn’t have the hoops lit on fire per say. They spect you to do certain things like al branches but don’t make it almost impossible ... as an example I called a USMC prior service recruiter and he told me per upper chain of command orders only a few recruiters in the state handle out of contract reenlistments and he wouldn’t have a remote idea who those may be and I had to get in touch with the person in charge of recruits for the state ... gave me an office number and several voicemails later I still have yet to hear from The mythological out of contract specialists ... the reason being is because the packet is a long and time consuming...
That has been my experience so far with trying to re-enlist with USMC

CPL Sheila Lewis No, but I would have been terrible because I'm too honest.

PFC A G Honestly sounds like the recruiter just didn't want to deal with your particular set of issues, this kind of stuff happens. And honestly the Marines can be more picky because they're much smaller. The Army is simply bigger and have many more slots to fill, that's why it may seem easier to get into those slots. Trust me, the Army can be quite a dumpster fire of its own, but I can't complain too much I've had a great career. You will have better promotions and options in the Army, if the brand of marine is what you're really after, then go hard in the paint there.

The Marines are tiny. They just don't have as much room as other branches.
