Why do you think there are so many school shootings now as opposed to say 25 to 30 years ago? We all know that guns can’t shoot themselves, so obviously that is not the problem in my opinion. I honestly believe that there is a direct correlation between the rise of school shootings and the taking of God out of the classroom, and kids not getting a well deserved a** whooping. Thoughts on this?

WE stopped teaching morals in our public schools. Evil will always find the individuals that do not have a moral compass to guide them.

These kids these days are missing 3 essential things, 1)GOD. 2) Love and parental guidance. 3) Good ol' fashion discipline (a good butt tanning) The world has been taken over by a bunch of passive goof-off's who don't care if their kids play 6-10 hrs of video games so long as they are out of their hair. With Facebook, snap-chat, and all of the other internet chaos kids don't even talk anymore. The other day my kid sent me a text from her room. I took her phone! Pissed her off for a while but she got the message not to text me when I'm less than 20ft' away. Back in the day if you had a "beef" with someone you went out behind the school and took care of it. Now no one wants to risk getting their but kicked for their point of view. Single kids raising kids is a huge part of the problem. Too few kids these days are receiving the same message(s) we got back in the day. They think they can just hit re-start and begin again. I got this message I want to pass along:

Dear GOD,
Why do you allow all so much
violence in schools?
Signed
a concerned student.

Dear Concerned Student,
I'M NOT ALLOWED IN SCHOOLS.
GOD

How many horror and violent action movies and video games and TV shows we on in the 1950's, '60's and '70's? How many people went to church? How many people saw the Ten Commandments posted on the walls of their schools? "Thou shalt not kill," is a powerful message, and one that was reinforced in society, a society that values the Judeo/Christian ethic. Today there is a full-court press on traditional values by the Fake News Alt-Left, anti-American liberal ANTIFA nut cases. By the way, that brings me to the person who committed this crime. It's a gestalt. A collection of themes and conditions. How many schools have not had a shooting? Why? Shouldn't we be looking at those schools for answers to how we can prevent future attacks? But how would that even begin to address the illness of the promiscuity of violence?

It's an easy target, it gets the shooter tons of media attention, for some reason these disturbed people think it is ok to take revenge on students because of how bad their life is. I don't know what the answer is. This last one should have been stopped, the church shooter got thru the loop because the Air Force did not put him on the list. The FBI should have checked into this kid because his post where reported to them. Our society is teaching kids that life in general is not as important as their individual needs.

Okay. Gonna triple-dip on this discussion now. Just came across this and posted it to start a new discussion, but decided to share it here as well. How can we have a discussion when so many are lying...

Not in this valley. In fact when the flood hit and the army showed up to help prevent looting it was discovered we had more guns than they did, no looters in this valley either.

SSG(P) (Join to see) Anytime I go anywhere, most of the folks are staring at their phone. I go to the library during school hours and see kids that should be in school, playing war video games on the computers. Parents are not instilling discipline or respect in their children. Kids are being taught that they are special and they can do whatever they want. There is no accountability anymore. Kids and adults are giving a second chance, third chance, etc., and they keep repeating bad behavior because they are not held accountable.

We have lost respect for each other and more importantly we have lost respect for life itself. Hence some think it is okay to kill if they have a grudge.

My take - I don't think young people are grounded in reality anymore. Facebook and social media, rumor and reputation... these dominate a young person's life in a way that conventional personal relationships do not. Living in this realm gives them a warped sense of reality, moral relativism, and detachment from values beyond groupthink.
One thing almost all of these muldoons have in common is being social outcasts.

People in society willing to kill to make a statement instead of just explaining to others how they believe they were wronged. Mental health is only s part of the problem. Our society is losing site of what is right and wrong.

When I went to school the worst thing that happened would be some pulling a knife, other than that is was normally a good fist fight. In my most honest opinion, things went down hill when the board of education(paddle) was taken out of the equation and disipline in the home taken away from the parent(thank Dr. Spock).
