Why do you think there are so many school shootings now?

I believe it is one of those events that occur once someone knows it can be done with no intervention or protection against, it demonstrated to those who thought about it can now act upon it because it works. No gun zones are places were the aggressors know they can be effective with little resistance. Military minded know easy targets when they see them. Gun free zones and anti-gun laws only apply to the law abiding. Criminals see it as opportunity.

I was picked on in grammar school until I realized I was BIGGER than the other kids picking on me so after that I stopped taking crap from everyone, tried NOT to be a bully about it, but I have always believed if you stand down from bullies they will pick on you forever bc ur an easy mark. If you stand up for yourself the bullies cannot stand the BAD PRESS from the other kids so they leave alone those who stand up themselves. It's pretty much that way all throughout life. Eventually you stop having to prove yourself when you settle down and get married and get to know the neighbors and blend in with the whole mess. You gotta learn to love YOURSELF B$ u can love others ... too many broken homes and failed marriages are heavy loads for children to carry, even though they shouldn';t have to .. for some reason they always feel responsible. MORE LOVE is always the solution to tragedy. A firm hand keeps the kids in line but you don't need to beat them physically. The best thing a parent can do for their kid is to teach them responsibility by always keeping their own word and standing behind their commitments. Kids watch the parents a lot more than anyone will admit so its important to be a good example always.

Discipline begins at home with the parents the children need to have set borders as to what they can and cannot do. Children today are too coddled they do not know the difference between the thrill of winning and the agony of defeat. I saw a cartoon the other day and a child was saying to his father, I came in First Place but Johnny came in last and we both got the same trophy. I do not think I need to try so hard the next time. Unfortunately, this statement is so true today.
Also, I do believe that religion plays a big part in all of this as it sets a basic moral compass for our children to live by. God has always been a important part of our culture here in the United States. I know when I went to school the first thing we did in the morning was recite the Pledge of Allegiance to the Old Glory and then we said the Lord's Prayer and I am not worse for it.
As far as a good ass whooping I am not so much in favor of that as I know it is easy to move from discipline to abuse. I know this from my own childhood. It is one thing to swat a child on the rear because they did something wrong to beating them out anger over something they did. A spanking to me was something to be feared as it always came with anger and bruising with a belt buckle included. I know that we have an issue with my grandchildren over this as they are spanked by their 3 older brothers, the mother and the live in boy friend. The youngest one had a big bruise on his bottom from being kicked by one of the older brothers. Currently, they have been removed from the mother's household and staying with my wife and I and my son and his soon to be wife.
Children need direction and they need to learn the difference between winning and loosing and they need a good moral compass to know the difference between right and wrong.

I think the a$$ whooping is the biggest part of the problem. Kids know no consequences for their actions. They have been coddled and wooed ever since they were born and they know no form of rejection. They don't understand that not getting your way, not being a member of the cool crowd, no getting the gadgets and gizmos, not getting the girl/boy of their young dreams, are not the end of the world and are not kill-able offenses. They have little to no socialization skills because they are always playing video games, reading garbage on the internet that they take as gospel, or hiding behind social media. Make your kids turn off the electronics and go outside and make friends in person. Go explore the great outdoors with a friend or 2. Just do something that doesn't require electrons.

It is the breakdown of families. Too many single parent families. It is also the lack of morals.

Because all Christian values have been removed from schools. Another reason is worthless losers kill people so they will get on CNN.

They are a gun free zone.

Let's look at the Florida shooting.
How much hate did it take for that kid to go kill the people he had gone to school with for all those years?
He had lost his Mom, lost his Dad and was being Ostisized at school.
The little girl in the interview even said they were doing it and the excuse was we didn't know the kid.
I couldn't phathem the depth of sarrow that guy was in. I can't relate, I can only imagine. I don't justify what he had done, but I do hold the students that went to school with him partially responsible.
The no bully zone is a joke, it's fake and the teachers turn an eye to what they want to see.
All I'm saying is you would have to push somone really hard to get them to the point of not caring about life and want to kill to take away your pain.
Personally I think alot of it is revenge.
