I was notified May 3rd that I have till 1 November to leave the service and never be able to serve again due to overweight 3 years ago. With 60 days saved leave that puts me at 4 months to find a new career after serving 11 years.

Maybe it's the Ht/Wt issue coupled with the permanent running profile. Kind of hard to be a fighting man when you are not able to run. I wish you the best of luck in your transition.

Was never an issue for my 2/12 month deployments to Iraq as a Tanker/dismount infantryman

Can they do a medical evaluation board if you are on a permanent medical profile? At least you would get severance pay before you get your VA claim situated. http://www.wtc.army.mil/modules/soldier/s6-medicalBoards.html

I'd hate to see you throw away 11 years. Get the weight off (stay away from sugar) and see if you can go into the reserves or guard. If you can go IRR, that'll buy you time, time that'll allow you to lose weight and transition into the reserve or guard. Once in the reserve or guard, do online courses. The courses will help to grow your retirement. Take care.
