I have worked with all the services frequently during my career. I see the ups and downs in each service. The Army seems to have the biggest attitude towards itself though. I would like to hear thoughts as to why Soldiers seems to talk bad or dislike the service that I love. Some may disagree this is true, but I do not think I am off base by stating this.

****FOLLOW UP QUESTION****

Do you think it is possible for the Army to ever show the universal pride in service that the USMC does?

The Warrior Ethos and brotherhood that is instilled in each Marine through basic training cannot be duplicated by the other services. As a Navy Hospital Corpsman stationed at MCRD Paris Island i observed how each individual recruit is indoctrinated and immersed in the tradition of honor and service that is exclusive to our fighting Marines. All Marines are first and foremost a rifleman, and a brother/sister to their comrades. In no other service is this bond of family displayed.

Every Service talks craps about it's own but with the Corps you have to look at our history, we have some of the greatest men to have ever served, followed by the Navy then the Army. We have to live up to that and to what America expects from the Marine Corps. We are respected and feared around the world and no Marine every wants that to change on his or her Watch. Semper Fi!!

Of coarse I am very proud of being in the Army
The problem is not the Army as much as politics which use the Army as there own social experiment which has set different standards for different genders race creed and religions
The Marines seem to stick their own set of standards and stand behind them
The Army leadership is so weak the I would fire more the half the Generals and put soldiers who have a backbone and look after their troops instead of being a politician
I loved my 3 plus decades in the Army Hated the politics

I cannot comment on the Troops you lead... seems it could be a leadership issue. Usually is a leadership issue when it comes to esprit de corps. In my time, the units with the best leaders had as much pride in their Army as any. Sure, the Marine Dress uniforms looked nicer than our Dress Blues... but that's for show. Marines are drilled into their heads they're the best... and the US Army Cavalry, with our stetson's and spurs, were just as bad ass. I had the misfortune to change my MOS from 19D to 16T... I went from being a well tuned Porche to being part of a wagon train. Leadership determines how well a Unit runs... it's not the Troop... it's the leaders.

Our pride is found in or numerous victories on the battlefield,we aren't REALLY spit and polish parade boys ,anyway. Some are, take the Old Guard,THEY are better at pride and uniforms,BAT NONE.But victory is synonymous with killing bad guys and right now the kids are whining about that.True we save more than we kill but the Tard Progs only know "War Bad" .

Having been Army & then assigned to the Marines in Fallujah, there is a huge difference. The Marines breed warriors. They are the pinnacle fighting force. And they maintain that pride. There is very little politics, red tape, & the normal BS one encounters with the Army. The Marines put the mission & nation on top. The Army on the other hand is often used for show. Imagine little toy soldiers. It's filled with red tape, politics, garrison creature comforts, & tons of BS. Marines are constantly training for missions. Army tends to give it's people all kinds of stupid tasks to keep them busy. Looking good in the Army takes precedence over being good. Marines do so much to boost morale in order to maintain the best fighting force int he world. The Army just wants to look good & do an okay job.

Taking pride in one's commitment to protect our country at any cost was what I was taught
After all the enemies certainly is -
I was willing to pay the ultimate cost and I knew it when I enlisted.
*perhaps it's something that is part of you before you even enlist.
Basic training was hard and so is serving but I would do it again.
we have freedoms to fight for and none of them are free and if we don't stick together in unity and have pride in what we do then why are we doing it.!?
