Why is it that we have a environment where no one wants to be the bad guy? no one wants to be looked at as the NCO or Soldier that calls others out.
We who correct others should not hesitate to do so. I instill this into my soldiers I love seeing them correct people but respectfully. I tell them I will never get on you for doing the right thing as long as you are respectful and give the correct information what can anyone do or say?
Just remember as long as you know the Reg. and go about it tactfully then no one can touch you.

I have a feeling that this is one of those 'transitional' things as the Military adjusts back to a more garrison environment (not that that makes it right). Education is the key as you stated. If you are right, you're right, and you don't have to be the 'bad guy', you can call the individual aside and have a quiet, polite, conversation. Identify the issue and move on.
Sounds to me like you are doing the right thing. Keep it up!

I suspect that a large part of it is due to the fact that when an individual is selected for a leadership position, they have a difficult time realizing that they are no longer the peers of those they supervise. They are also afraid to upset their former coworkers. The best advise I received when I became a manager was that once I crossed the threshold into leadership and management, I was no longer their peers, I was their supervisor. Along with that, I had to shed the "people pleaser" mentality. As a manager, you are there to ensure the mission is completed 100%. Having said that, this doesn't mean that you cannot look out, or care, for your subordinates. You just have to maintain your credibility and respect by not playing favorites, and being an upfront straight shooter across the board. Mentoring really helps as well.

Sir, MSG....
I've said the samethings both of you are correct. I've come to notice that when I think back and I first pinned CPL srtipes I found it hardder than ever to to find that line buut after a month or so it got easier. Now I find more leadership doing wrong I.E. mirrored sunglasses, hands in pocket, walking on cell phone things of that nature and I have said things and done stuff inconspicuously like tap their pocket while the hands in and speak of the glasses things but a week or two pass and they are back at it. its kind of gut wrenching and nerve racking when this happens and wondering am I getting soft when I no longer say something after a couple times but with my whole transitional period and pcs move I gave up thinking what can I change with a few days left here. but yet will blow up one of the soldiers if they done anything of the nature it drives me crazy and I always get into a pissing match when defending the soldier but I do let the soldier know they are wrong but get the confrontation when I state they cant correct a soldier when they are wrong also and that the soldier is doing what they see us do we have to fix us first. I create a lot of enemies, it has never been said that I have these enemies but I can feel the tension or how different they handle me after that incident.
all in all I feel its a lose, lose situation and a uphill battle without the support and is very broken.
