Islam has been a taboo subject in many countries around the world. Its very discussion causes to many become squeamish and uncomfortable. Many times this is due to the ambiguity of what Islam is in the western world. Too many people have no idea what Islam is because they haven't taken the time to read their sacred immutable texts. I am curious how many of our own really know much about it.

-Sorry I was hoping the Survey would be a yes or no-

This can spawn some pretty hefty debate. Having read the sacred texts will be invaluable as a foundation to discuss and add value to the thread, but not necessary. I hope we can keep this from becoming ad hominem, because we ALL signed up as brothers and sisters under the same flag, regardless of what we call God.

Most folks don't understand it. The culture of the Middle East and Islamic Law (not Sharia) is all they know.

Sgt (Join to see) - You don't think that the proposed bans on burkhas and the occasional violence toward an individual is a result of the amount of violence from the Islamic extremist? I'm surprised that several of the Western European nations haven't rounded up all the Muslims and sent them home. Talk to people that live around Muslim Majority areas like Dearborn or now London and see how they felt non Muslims are being treated.

Sgt (Join to see) - "You are the best of all people" "unbelievers are the worst of all creatures." That's not necessarily making someone better, just inflating a bias.

CPT Lawrence Cable - Captain, the Hijab and the Burka are not necessary. This is the law of Darura. In fact, by forcing us to accept the hijab and burka in secure areas such as airports it is an imposition of Sharia law upon us. Yes, that rule of Darura says that they don't have to pray 5 times a day in Dar-Al-Harb (house of war) because they can make time later. It also allows them to handle pork, as well as go without the head coverings if they are in a land where the laws and culture are prohibitive and it is convenient for them not to. Darura does not alleviate a Muslim from all things though. They must still wage Jihad. But don't be mistaken, as Jihad has many forms. Taqiyya is the jihad of deception, whereby Mohammad stated it was alright to lie and cheat the unbeliever, but that they must never do so to another Muslim. Anyway, Dhimmies are those with their butts in the air getting taken hard by Islam, they are the unbelievers that the Muslims let live in Dar-Al-Islam (house of submission or dar-al-salaam house of peace where sharia rules all) and those unbelievers are required to pay a 50% tax called Jizya. Those poor bastards usually find themselves with a horrible and brutal end. But the narrative that the poor Muslim boy or girl or family are just misunderstood and exactly like you and me and the rest of the west is hogwash. It is Taqiyya at its finest. This may cause emotional flare ups, but facts do not care about emotions and these things are black and white, and it is in the dispassionate evidence on paper and in practice that these facts are found.

CPL(P) (Join to see) - I'm on your side with this one, and yes, I am aware of the things you wrote. During the heyday of Islamic conquest, unbelievers were not encouraged to convert, just as long as they submitted. The "practical" reason what the Jizya was a major part of the support for the Islamic authorities.
