Why on every Navy base at the base theater, do they play the National Anthem? Is it played at the theater's on other military branch bases?

On every military installation I have ever been on, Air Force, Army, and Navy, they have played the National Anthem before the movie.

They do it on Army installations, as well.

It is like a little dose of AWESOME before the movie. Reminds you of where you are at! I miss that.

The National Anthem being played before a movie on all military installations is just like playing it before a ball game. It has been like this since I can remember as a kid. I am one person that believes that it should be played in all public movie theaters.
But that will never happen because it will offend someone.

All US military plays the National Anthem before the movie in base theaters. My wife is a Navy brat & the both us still get that urge to stand before a movie. I used to live near the British facilities while stationed in Berlin. They also play their national anthem before movies in their base theater as well.

It's been many years for me, but I do vaguely recall it on Army installations.

They stopped playing the national anthem when Obama was in office. Yeah, really.

It is played on every installation as respect to you and your country.

I don't understand. I have no problem with being patriotic, but it caught me off guard when I heard it the first time here.
