This is an excellent article with several salient points. ISIS' ideology and Mosul are Centers of Gravity, however, parts of Europe that have heavy concentrations of Muslims might be Centers of Gravity for Islamic Radicalism.

I think that they are able to radicalize people because of the west's precieved abandonment of any religion.
