If an Army Reserve soldier receives their promotable status while on a deployment will they be able to keep their promotable status if their conditional release is approved to go Active Duty, prior to attending BLC, once they have returned to the states?

No, you will not.
The component change will mean that you will have to re-board and meet the cut-off score for your MOS against your peers in the AC.

You’re promotable status does not transfer over. If you get promoted before the 368 is approved, you keep the rank, but only if you’ve completed the required NCOES for the current rank.

CPT (Join to see) -Generally the switch to Active resets your date of rank. It does not reset your time in service, which is from the day you signed the enlistment papers or were commissioned.

CPT Lawrence Cable thank you Sir! So does that mean if I go active as a 1LT before pinning on the reserve side, Captain would be around the corner for active duty or would there still be a time requirement ? Thank you for the guidance, Sir

CPT (Join to see) - Pinning is a unit thing, if you have your Federal Recognition before you go active, you should go as a 1LT. Once you go active, your date of rank will change to the date you go active, so a 2 year TIG requirement from that point. All this assumes that you have a 4 year degree and have complete a BOLC.

Thank you for the clarification Sir, CPT Lawrence Cable! Yes BOLC and 4 yr degree complete. And 2 years does not sound bad, honestly I would prefer to have some active duty experience as an LT before CPT.

Very tricky- the USAR has a slot for the promotion, will the AD have a slot for that same slot type promotion? Truthfully don't know, suggest grabbing a retention NCO for a talk.

No you will not. In some cases when doing conditional releases when the SM is at the MEPS executing their active duty contract they lose a grade or have to reclassify to a new MOS based on the needs of the active army.

I am aware of it coming from Active to Reserve Component, but not sure of it in reverse. Check the latest AR 600-8-19
