Will soldiers who have already completed SSD 1 and received the points for it have them taken away?

I have seen that at some point SSD 1 will no longer be worth promotion points, if you have already completed it will those points be grandfathered in or will they be taken away when it happens?

CPL Harden, the short answer is yes and no grandfathering. The points are going away because it is a requirement for all personnel to have SSD1 to be eligible for promotion so no need to award points for something everyone has to have. At least that is the reason I was given.
MILPER Message 14-016 (STRUCTURED SELF DEVELOPMENT LEVEL I (SSD-I) AND SEMI-CENTRALIZED PROMOTIONS)
"Promotions points for SSD-1 (16 points) will be TERMINATED concurrent with the 1JUL2014 promotion month."

That's the reasoning I was given as well 1SG but it still doesn't make sense in my mind. I mean you have to have a current APFT, weapons qual, amongst other things you still get points for.
Pretty sure they are already gone as well.

they were originally supposed to be gone in January, but they extended it to July in the recent MILPER message.

SGT (Join to see) SGT you don't get points for SSD anymore since it's a requirement before going too the certain schools.
