Will the Freddie Gray Family do something "PRODUCTIVE" with the 6.4 Million Dollar Settlement?

I forsee several new Bentleys getting registered in Baltimore

Ok, so did a little research...Freddie Gray didn't finish high school...had been arrested numerous times for selling dope in the streets and one time for illegal possession of a fire arm.

His mother who is an admitted Heroine addict and still is...will receive 5.4 million dollars and his father who was not present while Freddie was growing up and in and out of Jail will receive around $600K and 40 K or so...is going ?? somewhere...not sure.

Not in the next ten years would these three make this money...not even in the next 20 years.....I'm wondering how exactly did the city of Baltimore come up with this figure....and why it would be good to give this much money to these people.....especially when the city of Baltimore has obviously neglected the people in the inner city.

Why not use the money to help people in the inner city build business's....and these business's could hire the people in the area...give them jobs...give them purpose...keep them off of the streets.

yes, I realize this single mother of three who struggled to raise her kids while being a heroine addict is suffering from the loss of her son...but why is she receiving millions of dollars?

Why can't the city take the money and put it into a fund to help the inner city kids? Build them a community center that will teach music and art and have tutors to help the kids with their home work and school projects...or have counselors and mentors available to the inner city kids and families to try and better themselves and their lives....put aside some of the money for a scholarship....given to a few kids every year who attend the community center and work hard and show they deserve it.

I just don't get this.

I'm not sure why they paid the money before any of the court cases were adjudicated. There also should be some semblance of the payout relative to earning potential. In a best case scenario he might have made 50,000 per year which over a 40 year career would have been 2.0 million.

What will happen to the money? Most people that win the lottery end up broke in a number of years. Mostly because they do not know how to manage money. I suspect that will be the case here as well.

Ok...so don't know much about this guys family, but I know he has a long wrap sheet ......

What they should do is offer it to all of those who lost their business's and all of the cars that were set on fire....

and further more...WHY $64 million...I'm pretty sure .Freddie and both of his parents would never have made any where close to that in TWO life times.

They will spend the money extravagantly....throw it away like trash...buy themselves a mansion, a couple of expensive cars...take some trips to places they've never been and never would have gone....Nope, they'll piss it all away....and probably not think of Freddie one time.

What should they do? Form a charity or two...help the kids in the inner city.....built a community center/play ground/art center....somewhere the kids can go so that they'll hopefully stay off of the streets and out of trouble which is what Freddie did from a very young age.

Don't see this happening.

I hope so i could think of a few things. Like set up a scholarship fund, a community center, after school programs i mean there are tons of great uses for that money and enough left over for them to take care of there needs and wants. The money will never replace there son but they can use that money to do some good and honor their son. (im not saying he is innocent or guilty) No parent should ever have to put there child in the ground.

Sure, that'll donate it to Mosby, and the problem will continue until the rapture.

I hope so SPC Andrew Griffin, but nothing can replace him. That said, I suspect they will not do anything useful/productive with the funds.

SPC Andrew Griffin I wish the family would have done something productive before the incident...maybe taught their children not to break the law. Maybe get an education and job...

I hope they spend it all - the economy could use the stimulation! Please - spend it on small businesses!
