Will the insurrectionist retirees/veterans lose their VA/Service benefits?

In a word, based on current politics, NO! That said, they MUST be stripped of all rank, benefits, and prestige... they disgraced themselves, the armed services, and their country. Their attack on the seat of government is insurrection & equates to treason. I served 30 years in the US Army, and for these fools to do this infuriates me to no end. For the record, I am not a Demo crate, not an Independent, not a Republican... what I am is a card carrying American Citizen. Period!

The law provides for terminating benefits if convicted. If you plead guilty you are convicted. In some states it also requires a weapons ban

Maybe they weren’t “insurrectionists”, as many of you point out, and I will likely agree with you. However, if they were participating in events where they trespassed on government property, defaced or damaged said property, made criminal threats against other citizens, assaulted law enforcement and/or other American citizens, then they are certainly...well, something. Criminals at the very least. Much like many of those arrested, charged and prosecuted for their actions in other riots in the past months, the January 6th rioters should face the consequences for their actions. Insurrection? I don’t know about that; riot? Yeah, and that’s against the law.

This is a huge political issue and the highest Brass of all the forces and the Pentagon are political positions whether they want to admit it or not. They will fall in line with the political desires of those in charge to either save or further their careers. It's the law of Supply and Demand.
