No MSG, I didn't click to open this. I feared the ultimate download of a knife-hand virus that would overtake my system and mock me all day long. No, they say you get the government you deserve, and sadly, the vast majority of this nation's populace is unfit to be led by a man of GEN Mattis's character, so, we shall not see him in the Oval Office, throwing knife-hands at Congress or our adversaries anytime soon.

MAJ (Join to see) - I think the ultimate downfall will be the lack of ability to fall wholeheartedly into a party line to play the game. Independents are shunned by both parties, often left to their own devices to gain financiers and are thus overlooked by the uninformed (and often unwashed masses....well, not wholly unwashed. They're pretty brainwashed!!)
I also don't think that people want a "strong" leader, or are educated enough to know what a strong leader looks like and how to sort political promises from historical action. The bulk of the people will say "Oh, cool. He served in the Marines," but probably won't have a clue on his stances on things...nor will they attempt to educate themselves. This will leave it to mainstream media (historically unfriendly to Independent candidates, and I also don't know if the RNC will endorse him) to help "educate" the voters, and the clearly unbiased commercials put out by the candidates themselves.
I'd have to know more on his stances before I could offer my support.....but once I know more solidly whom will be on the ballots, I'll be happy to throw my hat in to support a candidate.

While I agree with everything you posted, it is a bit sad the such a young man is so cynical of his fellow citizens...of course it is because the majority of our electorate is not educated nor has a clue what leadership is, let alone strong leadership.

MSG Brad Sand - I agree, and wish I weren't. However, I feel that our nation as a whole is asleep at the wheel. Coworkers can tell me what celebrity is dating/screwing whomever, but when we discuss ISIS or a topic of significant relevance, they have little input. In fact, many coworkers are starting to discuss the events with me to learn about them as they know that I'm intensely motivated to learn about the goings on of the world around us. For that sense, I'm grateful to help educate...but it is clear from watching TV and talking to people that there are a large number of poorly informed voters that are showing up in the polls simply to proclaim their allegiance based on a commercial, rather than historical precedence.
Honestly, I would love to see a combination of Mattis/Powell on the ballots. Powell I think falls more under the "moderate liberal" side, and Mattis I feel would be a strong conservative base. With both being high ranking military officials, I think that they would be a very strong ticket to help balance the power...and I think that it would also provide an AMAZING opportunity to start crossing party lines to achieve TRUE compromise rather than the partisan insanity that has been getting steadily worse since the Bush administration in 1991. Of course, such an alliance would simply draw the ire of BOTH parties, leading to the downfall of either one of them becoming successful. Still, I think both show tremendous promise....and depending on their stances and how they conduct themselves, I think it would be good to see either operating as the President of the United States.

It is always hard when we realize we are old fashion and have values. You will be okay in the long run when lesser men and women learn what you already know. I understand how hard it can be for you right now.
I think your idea for a ticket would be very interesting...as long as the right person was at the head...I.E. not Powell...but he would be great in the support role. Plus, the VP position is something he might buy into.

If it were true, he'd have my vote regardless of who was running against him.....and he would win, regardless of who was running against him.
