Donald Trump appears to be poised to win the South Carolina republican primary with Ted Cruz and Marco Rubio battling for second place. It seems the Trump juggernaut has still got enough steam despite or because of his red-faced diatribe against former president G.W. Bush in the last debate and his attacks on his rivals.
Will this cause anybody to drop out or will they wait until super Tuesday?

Here's the thing with Trump - he's got all of the voters he is going to get. As the other candidates drop out, his numbers don't go up, they stay the same. That's ok for now, but as Carson, Kaisich, and Bush drop out, their votes are going to Cruz and Rubio - Trump may win these early primaries, but he doesn't have the votes to go the distance and he doesn't have a wide enough platform to pick up any more. Hell, I know that there are a lot of moderate Republicans that would rather vote for a Dem than for Trump because of how extreme he is. That is his downfall.

SSgt John S. - I don't take much stock in any media headlines - I don't care. My absolute revulsion for Trump comes only from the words that come from his mouth.

SSgt John S. - Regardless of whether you agree with his "positions," he has made no reasonable explanation of how he's going to do them. Every time he's asked "how" he says the words "Make America Great Again!" and then babbles on for five minutes of nothing... his positions are irrelevant without a plan to execute them.

PVT James Strait - "Money is freedom." And I'm deathly afraid you might be right on that. Those with more money will be more free that those without it. That is not what our nation was founded on and that is not a value I wish to vote for.
Do I like Hillary? Nope, I don't. But I think she's less likely to drive this country into a bunch of pointless wars that only benefit the "free rich" folks and have nothing to do with international or national security than the Republican front-runner.

Why so many voters want Trump to be the Republican candidate for president is an indication we are in serious trouble as a nation ..IMHO

I don't think Trump will allow such an insignificant thing as the U.S. Constitution stand in the way of his business expansion and partnerships with the Russian mob. Remember, he's got a man crush on Vladamir Putin. He admires Putin's ability to get things done: high praise for a former KGB officer........continue watching the show, folks.....

It narrowed the field by one (Bush). Don't know why Carson is hanging around. He is just wasting money. With the field narrowing down, the establishment needs to get down to a couple, probably Cruz and Rubio, or Trump is going to run away with it. I would really like to see Kasich do better. He has done pretty good in his political career and I like how he is staying positive. All of negativity during an election really irks me.

With Donald Trump appearing to have won the South Carolina republican primary, how will this impact the field of candidates ?

I have been saying since Nov. that it was going to come down to Trump, Cruz and Rubio. With Bush dropping out today, how long until the others see the writing on the wall?
One thing to remember is that there has been no candidate that has won both NH and SC that has NOT gone on to become the GOP nominee.

good to know but I still think the Republicans have a B team this time around and I actually am surprised about Bernie Sanders taking on the Teflon Queen who said Benghazi was a demonstration gone bad!

Unless America starts taking "Stupid" pills by the handful in October, I don't see either Bern-out or Hellary winning in November. Of course stranger things have happened, but there is something about this cycle that says otherwise.
The only way I can see that happening is if Republicans/Conservatives stay away from voting because they are too butt-hurt that their candidate wasn't the nominee. We saw that happen in 2008 and 2012, don't it'll happen three times in a row. At least I hope not!!!

Bush drops out fairly quick (maybe after Nevada), Kasich stays in a little longer awaiting the Midwest primaries (but gets pressure from the GOP establishment), and Carson stays in to keep selling more books. It's essentially a three-horse race now.

SFC (Join to see) - The writing was on the wall. His polls numbers stunk, his donors were withholding additional funds, and his staffers were floating their resumes. It was getting ugly.

Yes Sir. I don't know about the rest of your predictions though. I think if Kasich could get some media (instead of the 3 amigos calling each other names). He may be able to garner more support. Dr Carson....well as we say down south..."bless his heart".

I give Ben Carson credit. The media is hard on him but they are teflon on the POTUS.
I had this on my DVR from the situation room and CNN never took this up afterwards...listen to the whole thing! media gives a double standard to a conservative candidate...note the media got defensive here! ask yourself liberals..why won't they answer his questions?

Trump is going to win handily. Cruz is his own worst enemy by being too hard line conservative. He won his seat in congress almost by default, with only 631,812 votes in the 2012 primary from a voting pool of 13 million plus registered voters because of a poor turnout of 8.5%. The general election was a no brainer against Dem. Paul Sadler who was called the “sacrificial lamb” in the election because the minority party was not even considered consequential. His policies appeal primarily to right wing extremists and he will not crossover with moderates. Rubio is an empty suit who changes his position to please whomever he is speaking to. This media rhetoric about him being the only one who has a chance in the general election is desperate because just the opposite is true. Trump appeals to some hard line conservatives because they are sick of the left, right wing moderates like him, left wing moderates like him, and disillusioned left wingers like him.
Anyone here that believes Hillary is a better option than Trump needs their head checked. Hillary will finish America off while her and her husband fill their coffers even further. She panders to the poor and minorities just as President Obama did and just like him she will do nothing to change anything.

Well Jeb Bush has already thrown in the towel. I think Dr. Carson is next. I just hope Gov. Kasich can last long enough to catch some steam.
