With my scores and a background in EMT, what are the chances of me getting 18D if I were to have that as my #1 pick on the wishlist?

Your chances are whatever the Regiment needs. I had outstanding scores in the 130s and 140s and was already a 68W, I picked 18D and ended up receiving 18E.
Hope you get your first choice.

If your knowledge of being a medic is the same as your Army knowledge, I would have trained you for something else. Getting two skill sets for the price of one.

I’m not SF but I come from a huge family that primarily is. They all recommend going in as another slot like a 18B or 18C and then going back later down the road because not only in the delta course the one everyone wants but once you become a delta you’re needed. So it’s better to Q in another MOS and then later request to go to the delta course because 1) you’re already tabbed 2) you then have two SF MOS’ and are more valuable.

I see, contingency planning. The only thing is, this quest pertains to National Guard SF(19th grp). Not a lot of leeway like active duty.

Then just go for it. 19th group has like a 8-10 month train up. They have the highest first time go percentage if I’m not mistaken.

While nothing is impossible, there are many medics applying for the same opportunities. There is a mountain of evaluation and medical training as individuals progress through the process. As an EMT I can say that I do not hold a candle to a rested combat medic. I recommend that you seek the MOS or enter as open 18 series and go from there. Again there is nothing wrong with requesting. Thank you for your service.
