With the creation of the UCMJ "uniform" "military" why are there still different branches?

There must be many positives to the budget by solving unnecessary duplication.
In bootcamp and beyond you can still talk about history when the military used to have Navy dungarees or the Army used horses, or when there was no Air Force or Navy at all, and all battles were fought on land.

Sounds like you want us to look like Canada. No thank you. Plus the UCMJ has nothing to do with the different branches of our military other than the Uniform application of justice. BTW all of the UCMJ is not equally applicable to all branches of service.

After reading reports for years I have found themes.
Let me know what you think.
After the United States Constitution and the Army and Navy were formed at basically the same time.
Spawning hundreds of years of experiences and growth and investigations and reports to improve identified issues.
I have read found themes in identified problems in reports namely unnecessary cost associated with duplication of commands and competitive branch incentive programs for recruits.
The goal always stays uniform “Defend the Constitution against enemies”
Here is a baseline of where we are in creating uniformity
USC Title 10 Military Law
Uniform pay grade structure
DOD USMEPCOM Uniform Entrance Physical Fitness Standards PULHES Physical Profiles
UCMJ
Total Force Policy
Central Commands
Uniforms of all the branches basically becoming more Uniform
Active Duty and Reserves
VA attempts to treat with uniformity based on uniform medical terms
Here is a report that discusses problems of duplication

The Naval Reserve surface program has allowed the Navy to have a slightly larger Order of Battle, but at acost of reduced readiness for 14 to 16 ships, and with significantly fewer deployable assets.
From these savings one would have to deduct any cost of duplication between active and reserve areas. To quote from the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff:
We found areas of active and reserve forces that, if eliminated, better integrate the Total Force and preserve robust combat capabilities at lower cost. One such example is the parallel headquarters structures in the active and reserve components... In the Navy, there is a Commander, Naval Reserve Force; A Commander, Naval Air Reserve; and a Commander, Naval Surface Reserve, each
with a headquarters staff duplicating the functions of
one another and of the Active Navy component."
By being in the business of operating surface ships, the Naval Reserve is forced to duplicate staff functions of the Active Navy. The costs of operating headquarters staff is beyond the scope of this thesis, but it could cut considerably into the $18M-44M savings achieved at the shipboard level by the NRF FFG program.
The cost benefit of solving branch duplication could be rolled into manpower quality of life improvements

You are aware that the UCMJ defines the military justice system and lists criminal offenses under military law and has nothing to do with Uniform military, right ?
