The Army can't prevent you from getting married. But it will certainly be a lot easier and less complicated on the back side if you wait. If you get married enroute and show up with your new wife, you will find yourself broke, possibly homeless for a while, and place a lot of unneeded stress on your new spouse.

The Army can't prevent you from getting married, but common sense should! Tell her you are being stationed at someplace like Wainwright or some other out of the way place. Go to Campbell, look around, have some fun, do some training, see what life is like for a Pvt just starting out in the Army. Then make the decision to marry,,, or not. Believe me when I tell you, your future ex-wife will thank you for the delay. Signed, (not at all bitter) !

Do not get married until you have settled into your new unit!! You don't want to drag her into a new lifestyle until YOU know what is going on. Your unit does not have to make time in the OPTEMPO for your married life. Recon 1st- cost of living, location of housing on/near post(depending on the unit/MOS- you could be subject to periodic 2 hr recalls). Jobs for her etc. You should be building up leave time-- once you have the answers and YOU BOTH discuss them, then take some leave time (when available) and get married and start her transition.

You can get married when ever you want in the army they are family oriented. You have to put in the correct paperwork at the finance office as soon as you get your marriage certificate. Have them backdate the pay from the day you got married.
