Donald Trump indicated he would most certainly consider jumping ship and running as an Independent Third Party candidate if the GOP 'mistreats' him, according to recent interviews.
Pressed on whether he would run as a third-party candidate if he fails to clinch the GOP nomination, Trump said that “so many people want me to, if I don’t win.”
“I’ll have to see how I’m being treated by the Republicans,” Trump said. “Absolutely, if they’re not fair, that would be a factor.”
RNC Chairman Reince Priebus called Trump earlier this month asking him to tone down his controversial rhetoric. More recently, the RNC rebuked him for saying that Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) is not a war hero. Trump didn’t apologize but has since said that the 2008 Republican presidential nominee is a war hero.
Trump told The Hill that the GOP establishment in Washington dislikes him because he’s not part of the political class.
“I’m not in the gang. I’m not in the group where the group does whatever it’s supposed to do,” he said. “I want to do what’s right for the country — not what’s good for special interest groups that contribute, not what’s good for the lobbyists and the donors.”
The real estate magnate has upended the Republican presidential primary, with recent national polls showing that he is leading the 16-candidate field. Many in the party’s establishment, pointing to his inflammatory comments about Mexican immigrants and McCain, say that Trump is badly hurting the GOP brand.
Yet he is connecting with a significant chunk of GOP voters. And despite criticism from party leaders and other presidential candidates, Trump appears fueled by controversy.

Yes...I believe the two major political parties have run their course. It's been a long-run monopoly and it's time for a major third party to get things (at least on the surface) straight.

I simply cannot believe that we only have the same families running this great nation.
For calling ourselves the beacon of democracy we are pretty behind on how and who runs our country.
Our electoral college system clearly do not depict the popular vote. The fact that we do not require an identification for our voters is pretty crazy. And what's even crazier is that politicians are against such requirement, only to leave one to speculate how many elections are won with illegal votes.
So before anyone spins their wheels it's already arranged who the candidates will be and who is the winner.... I personally do not believe in our current electoral system and regardless of party they all work for a special interest group and their lobiest

I hope people can see past Perry's terrible debate last time around. He's done so much here in the Lone Star state of Texas. I hated seeing him step down to get into this race.

I wouldn't, and I don't know a terribly high number of people who would. If anything, his running as a 3rd party would split the conservative vote and guarantee another Democrat victory; can't say I'd be upset by that.

LTC John G. Shaw, Agreed, Donald Trump's tongue may be a few steps ahead of his brain when he speaks. I must say I am impressed that he has little baggage nor allegiances and favors owed to the 'party'. Brash or not, Trump identifies up from down which the others are afraid to touch upon.

Bone spur? Hahaha....just say no! Cpt Durish, I see how well voting for the "only" parties has done....I respectfully disagree sir, and point to the blatant evidence of ACTUAL wasted votes that I have witnessed and PAID FOR over the last 58 years....if it's Red or it's Blue...it's a waste!

If it were a two person race, and the other was Hillary, I'd vote for Trump.
The only other possibilities that would even cause me consideration are Trump versus Sanders (choosing between duelling wackos) and Trump versus Ventura. (In spite of being a Libertarian, I could not possibly vote for Scruff Face. I think I'd have to write in Joe Stalin, just to register my displeasure.)

I have to admit, I'm impressed with what Trump has accomplished. He needs a muzzle, but otherwise he's done much better than I expected.
On the other side, we have Democratic mayors, city councilmen, representatives, senators, and governors who stood by and let "mostly peaceful protestors" loot, riot, destroy property, and commit arson unchecked. I don't see how anyone can back people who are willing to let mob violence occur just so they can gain power. If nothing else, it is a slap in our faces from those who live in walled and gated communities to those who wanted a border wall.
I believe, I hope, I pray that Trump wins a second term, to let the Democrats know in no uncertain terms that we will not put up with pandering and appeasing violent mobs.

Pseudo conservative third party candidates split the conservative vote and insure victory for the left. Ross Perot (another self absorbed millionaire) proved this to be true. Herbert Walker Bush wouldn't have lost to Bill Clinton without Perot's help.
