I believe there's only one way out of this situation. No one in North Korea wants to be there under this rule. We should all go in, take him out, remove the border and the South Korean President becomes the new Korean president. And now North Korea turns into a modern, contributing, safe, and prosperous nation. Families will finally be reunited and free. Pretty soon we'll be forced into this.

I think we should. But, there is a larger issue at stake. Chinese involvement would be a big problem in this endeavour. They may bring forth their military and propaganda machine to bear in defense of this regime. Before we make this decision we need to be prepared for this contingency, both at home and throughout the world.

Agreed this is not the Ideal time to enter a war. History has proven that's usually when they start.

Just like when we fixed Iraq by removing Hussein (then I did deployments to that country from my 20s-40s, we fixed it so good:).......I am certain China would love having USA conducting a war in Korea w/out them.........

Not only no but hell no. It will implode one day and South Korea will likely move in to clean the mess up (ala the Germanies).
No more nation building, let the Norks settle their own.

There was no reason that we caved in the war like we did in Vietnam. I still feel we should go back, kick the fat man outta there and back a single nation Korean pennsulia.

Very brave of you my friend and I would stand by you, but we might die and then they would still be a problem. Better to Bomb them to hell.

Some Navy Seal said we should air drop I-phones into the country. They would rebel shortly there after.

"North Korea,turns into modern.....nation"
Whoa there pardner. You have several generations worth of brainwashed and most illiterate peasants living under conditions which are brutal.
There is a giant third world problem here. Integrating these people into the rest of the world will be almost impossible... for at least 20 years. These are people who have been taught to worship each current incarnation of "Dear Leader" as a God. In other socialist shitholes those things were somewhat true yet the population ps while heavily controlled were not ABSOLUTELY cut off from the outside world. The vast majority of these uneducated masses.... who are not yearning to be free... have had absolutely no messages related to them by anything but the State for their entire lives.
North Korea is probably the most long term ABSOLUTE dictatorship in any stretch of history.
There are NO citizens there who can remember anything but the absolute rule of the state.
I have serious doubts about the ability for this to be pulled off in a fashion which anyone can even grasp at this point. The world has never dealt with such a thing.
Even the survivors of the Nazi extermination and slave camps had memories of a former life.
There have been science fiction stories which have dealt with the subject of people being released from absolute control. It will take generations to erase it.

We are talking about a country that's obsessed with military might, is completely convinced everyone wants to kill them, and has been digging in and preparing for invasion for decades. That's probably not an anvil you want to swing your sword against if it can be avoided...

We need to nuke them. I spent 3 years in Nam as a gunner on a PBR and always said we need to watch out for North Korea. They are crazy and will use the bomb on Japan first. Then we are next.

Well I was in the Artillery for 20 years. I was in the war in the Gulf I fired as many rounds as my officers would allow me too. I was the operations chef in charge of an 8 gun yes stupid 8 155 mm battery. That was an Idea that went away almost as quickly as it started. Stupid. But any ways I have never regretted one round. Only wish I had fired more sleep like a baby at night. You see in indirect war fare like Artillery or Bombers dropping bomb you do not see the enemy. So its not an issue. I say the B-52 dropping thousands of bombs in the Distance on Iraqis it was awesome. First you see the flashes at night it lights up the sky like some kind of giant lighting storm, then the ground feels like an earth quake under your feet finally you can hear the rumble. It was beautiful. That is when we first developing smart bombs and still did carpet bombing I was 20 miles or more away. I can tell you the Iraqis must have been peeing their pants. It spooked some of my men and as I saw it was 20 - 40 miles away. See speed of light is faster, the the ground is a better conductor then the air. The B-52 is an awesome weapon.

Set up a covert assassination of Kim, make it look like it was inside job. Then pray that whoever takes over realizes their country is a shithole and needs to rejoin the rest of the world.

Your third sentence fails to explain that your theory won't be done while this or any similar admin is in office and if we are fortunate not to have a similar admin come in, then things would tend to change prior to what you propose....back to your third sentence...what happens when China steps in? China doesn't like N. K. but they won't standby and do nothing...then your mediocre plan suddenly takes on a whole new face and a supposedly small incursion now turns into a massively, overpowering contest and the USA is no where near having the capability for a big war, PERIOD!
