Many remember the incidents as if they happened yesterday and feel the MC threw the pilots under the bus while forcing the program forward. If the pilots erred or the CO falsified maintenance records it was probably due to intense pressure on them by the MC to make the program succeed at break-neck speeds. 16 years for a simple statement from a bureaucrat which only reflects conditions at the time. Does anyone present at the time have any insights or insider information on the incidents in the article?

More than likely....Get it online and we'll fix it after we get the funding....By the time they got it right it cost X + $ instead of bid price, as always it boils down to the Benjamin's. Unfortunately it cost Marine lives....MIC doesn't care.

Capt Tom Brown It is sad that this had to happen. That last line “If you are a man of integrity, you must help me clear the name of my husband.” is chilling. It is horrible that in their push to get their new toy, they were willing to soil the reputation of Marines who died getting that aircraft certified. Of course by now anyone at the top who was involved will be gone so there really is nothing that they can do by way of punitive action. What they can do is honor the widow's request and formally clear the crews of the downed aircraft.
