No way, Chief. Then the Posse Comitatus Act would apply to them, and they'd lose their LEO powers.

CWO2 S R - I thought that with the transfer out of Dept. of Treasury into DHS after Sept. 11, 2001, the CG was adequately funded and no longer treated like the proverbial "red-headed stepchild"? I'm seeing a lot of nice, well-equipped and well-armed smallboats out on the water these days.

They Have A Separate Mission, That Could Be in Contrast To The Posse Comitatus Act If They Were Part Of The DOD...

If that happened they'd loose title 19 protection (which created USCG btw). Loosing law enforcement would be from posse comitatus.
