I always thought Marines pulled embassy duty, SSG Robert Mark Odom. Maybe the official Marine embassy duty contingent remains and the 82nd serves as augmentation.

SSgt Dawson Webb - on ground troops. Interested in who gives the overall orders to the joint forces on the ground when the fit it’s the san and you can’t wait for CENTCOM to respond. Will the Sr Army CDR be authorized to direct immediate actions of USMC permeant Embassy personnel or will USMC personnel be directed based on thier SOP’s. It could get interesting if the on ground chain of command isn’t spelled out.
