I have heard that the buns or pulled up gives headaches...plus it is difficult to wear caps and combat headgear. I am all for it...makes operational sense. Foreign governments have been doing this for a long time. Don't know if it helps with retention...changing hair styles and breastfeeding changes etc aren't the issues I am hearing about...I am hearing about sexual assault, harassment, just overall treatment of women in the ranks. Until we get that addressed and under some sort of control, hair styles etc won't mean a hill of beans...I don't think I will ever hear someone say "they let me keep my hair long so I am going to reup!" IMHO.

SSG David Brandgard - KIJ served from 72 until 96 and my eldest kid is serving now and a member on RP
Your bit about not a single soldier is utter bullshit and a insult to the folks who are serving now

1stSgt Nelson Kerr They stopped teaching digging around 02/03. Thank you for your service and that of your sons. Nothing is an insult to the soldiers, they are products of senior leadership. They don't know what they don't know. The problem in this is the senior level leadership...those that make policy and determine training doctrine. I had a ranger qualified soldier in 06 time frame. Because of the reliance on GPS and all the other stupid tech, he couldn't tell you what all of the colors on a map meant. Others didn't have a clue what pace count was or how to get it. Some were very rusty on the use of a compass and gaining an azimuth. And these were 19D airborne scouts! They could tell and demonstrate all the battle drills and qualify expert on all of our weapon systems. As we were attached to infantry battalions, scout skills suffered, but infantry skills were out of this world. Once, we got relearning the basics and advanced scout skills, we became unstoppable. I understand times change and things become seemingly irrelevant, so the practices change and stop. And no one cares except the old timers.....until things change and those lack of practices and standards suddenly smack you in the face.....then comes all of the changes and reactionary training doctrines.

The Israeli females wear their hair long. I still see long hair or beard as a liability if you are ever in a hand to hand fight. Alexander the Great had his men shave before fighting the Persians

MAJ (Join to see) But in a fighter/tanker/helo helmet or in garrison it makes perfect sense. Plust it has worked for the Israelis with no known issues and to me honest I don't think I would want to go hand to hand combat with one of them.

Beards for male Soldier will eventually be allowed at this rate, to bad I retired that would have been fun to watch a CSM explode :) Maybe even ponytails for male Soldiers, no more high and tights. Oh brave new world.

You can wear lip-gloss with a hint of pink honey! FABULOUS! BTW, If men want to address themselves as women Biden did pass a law that you can do so in the military and UNCLE SAM'S gonna pay for your operation. I hope that expensive hack come with an at least 3 year enlistment contract.

TSgt Ann Smith - He/Her should try out for all the military's women sports teams and be a synch to be the MVP which will get him/her bonus points for a step promotion and awards. Ain't life grand?
