America’s Warrior Partnership: Building a Flywheel of Veteran Success

I’ve worn a number of items on my uniform, but the one that’s always mattered most has been the unit patch—the reminder that, in uniform, none of us fights alone. Your squad has your six at 0300 and your family barbecue at 1800. Service is a 24-hour team sport.
Then the DD-214 hits your inbox. One day you’re inside the wire, the next you’re staring at a home office webcam wondering why the silence feels so loud. Remote work, scattered neighbors, “let’s-grab-coffee-sometime” that never lands on the calendar—civilian life can chip away at that sense of belonging faster than any insurgent ever could.
That’s why I joined the board of America’s Warrior Partnership (AWP). They’re the connective tissue between veterans and the thousands of local programs that already exist but are too often hidden in plain sight. Think of AWP as a forward observer: they survey the terrain, call out exactly which resources are in range, and guide you onto target—whether that’s a mental-health counselor, a welding apprenticeship, or the local flag football league that turns strangers into squadmates.
But AWP doesn’t just hand out a phone list and walk away. Their researchers map the gaps—where benefits don’t reach, where red tape strangles momentum—and then partner with communities to close them. The result is a self-reinforcing loop: every veteran who gets plugged in becomes another mentor, coach, or business owner who in turn helps the next service member land well after ETS. That’s the flywheel—once it’s spinning, it keeps accelerating.
Why does that matter beyond feel-good headlines? Because the next generation is watching. When young Americans see veterans thriving—showing up in classrooms, boardrooms, and city-council seats—they get a crystal-clear picture of what military service can lead to: purpose, not purgatory. We owe them that example. And we owe ourselves the chance to keep serving, this time on the home front.
So if you’re a veteran who feels a gap between where you stand and where you mean to be, don’t white-knuckle it. Reach out to America’s Warrior Partnership. Let them spot you on the next lift, point you to the right gear, and nudge that flywheel one notch faster. Our communities—and the troops who will one day replace us—are counting on it.
Stay in the fight. Stay connected. We’re stronger together.
Contact AWP today (https://rly.pt/awp) to get some assistance in your community that can help you get there.

I've used AWP's services to help a friend several states away. They were responsive, helpful, and all that Clint describes. Great group indeed!

Clint Romesha is a great American who cares deeply about veterans. AWP is fortunate to include him as a board member and friend. Thanks you to RallyPoint for getting the word out about AWP!

I fully agree that the answers are hiding in plain sight. I have been using onlyusa.us to show the problems with the VA, plus the common-sense solutions.
The changes I have seen are unbelievable. As an example, following my surgeries, the surgeon put me in for four months of PT.
I have fought this battle with Community Care for years, so I was prepared for weeks of delays and a limit of 15 treatments. After yesterday's surgery, I called and left a message.
This morning, they called and said the orders were pending review. Confirming, in my mind, delays. To my surprise, they called back in 30 minutes. My order was active for four months, 2/3 treatments per week. Not the usual 15 mixium treatments.
I mentioned the details only because this is a considerable change.

Sgt Douglas Berger - I Read The Short Article But Haven't Joined Yet. But As You Said "There are many problems that can be solved with common-sense solutions"
And I AGREE ~~ But Our Local VA Doesn't Seen To Actually Give A Sh*t About We Vets.
I Think, From My Actual Experiences And Talking To The Others At The VA Medical Center, Including Couple Doctors And A Few Staff Members (Off The Record) The VA's Up To Theirs So Deep, They're Busy Covering Their Azz Trying To Avoid More Problems They Haven't Time To Care For Us... And For Common Sense? Da Ya REALLY Think They Have Any? ~ I'll Give 10-1 Odds It's Never Been Considered,
P.S. Should ANY Vet Have An Issue With Their Local VA Which Cannot Be Solved At The Local Level, Give These Folks A Shot. The Act as A Lesion And STAY On Their Case Until Something IS Done: In My FOURTH Year And I Ain't Giving Up. These SOB';s Out Here REALLY Piss Me Off. But The DC Folks Are Right Along With Me ~ 24/7 - 165.
