Good morning, Sir. As an Enrollment Coordinator in the Institute for Veterans and Military Families, I spend a lot of time communicating with transitioning service members across the country. Many of them are older, experienced Staff NCOs and seasoned Officers with a plan, but many are also younger, junior enlisted, and may not have a path as clear. What would you say to the 20-21 year old Specialist or Lance Corporal trying to work for your organization? What do you look for in the ideal prior-service candidate and how would you inspire them?

Thanks for your service, Michael...as you know, IVMF is a long thought-partner of ours, and we value the growing and expanding relationship. My recommendation to the subject young Specialist or Lance Corporal would be access WalmartCareerswithaMission.com and avail yourself of the resources on the site and the human touch of our career counselors. As far as what we look for...I suggest that with the breadth and depth of opportunities at Walmart, it is as important that candidates understand their career aspirations and personal brand as it is that we have any preconceived notions.

I couldn't get hired now even if tried. So how does one get rehired if fired over 10 years ago for a stupid mistake?

Thanks for your Navy service, Kevin...I'm not an expert on rehire authority; however, since we do rehire some associates who have been separated, have you pursued re-employment with Walmart?

Yes, but I can not be rehired. Can not even put in a application. For I am not eligible to be rehired. I did work for Walmart part time while in the Navy in Groton Connecticut. Then I moved due to my retirement and worked about 1 year after my retirement. Like I said I got fired for a stupid mistake and can no longer work or apply at Walmart. It has been over 10 years now since and had to move on.

Thanks for your service, Cowboy...while we believe it is our civic and social responsibility to support those who serve and have served and their families, it is with enlightened self interest because the military community represents arguably the largest, diverse talent rich pool in the world. And, we want them on our team.

BG Gary Profit --Sir; My thanks for your long and valued service to the country that you and I have served. My question is a simple one also, but the answers will be difficult to unwind! Who are the soldiers who have died in captivity and/or been abandoned by the US Administration, why, how, and where was this done? A complete list of the names, place of death, provided to all surviving families. I well know, as you do, that to determine who was responsible for these men being abandoned will never be done, as such was long buried in the darker recesses of our government.
BG Gary Profit
We're enjoying our time with you and are happy to take a few more questions before ending the session.

Hi sir!

I need your help, I got a discharge from the air force back in December 2017, discharge codes JFY 2C (adjustment disorder) for an episode of major depressive disorder, single episode, with suicidal ideation but no intent. I'm currently trying to get my code changed so I can go back in. I was engaged up until a week before shipping to basic, and wasn't getting any letters for the first 3 weeks. When I got home, I went to a behavioral health clinic and they couldn't find anything wrong with me. The professional said they, since I only had two thoughts, that it was completely normal because people can occasionally think about stuff like that. I believe that my case was all situational and that I shouldn't have been barred from going back in. I'm still young and I want to serve my country. If you could help, I would greatly appreciate it. I've even considered going to my congressman for help.

General, Our country needs a face lift. Our disabled Veteran/handicapped parking sign(red-white-blue) is a beautiful sign w/ an eagle @ the top & a wheel chair @ the bottom. As a Veteran, you should already know that 90 % of our Veterans, won't use the appropriated handicapped parking spaces, until they absolutely have to.
Today's youth - up to 30 years of age & beyond, absolutely have "little" or no appreciation for the freedoms they enjoy on a daily basis. I know our sign will help make a positive attitude change in America's youth. I know our program will be honored by all americans. A welcome change - a face lift if you will. The amount of good-will that Wal Mart will receive when they implement our -sign program will be enormous ! I haven't the computer capability to send you a copy of the sign over cyber space, but if you will send me your "FAX" number, I will get it right to you for your review.

Are you and Walmart open to new ideas that benefit veterans AND Walmart, such as a "Veteran Author" section or endcap or freestanding display in Walmart stores? Many veterans have published books that enrich the depth of appreciation and understanding of what we go through as warriors, and at the same time help us through PTS and TBI issues. It is cathartic, therapeutic and healing. Thank you! Hooah!

Thank you for your service, MAJ Granger...retail is a dynamic and ever-changing industry, and Walmart continuously innovates, working very hard to stay on the cutting edge. We dismiss no ideas and evaluate all of them on their merits.
