RallyPoint - I love what you do, and I'm so glad to have been back to take some of your questions during this transition period. I wrote a book about my dog - of all things! - during an election year, and it really was a wonderful distraction from all of the politics. I included a gallery of photoshops by @FiveFanPhotoshops, so please check those out - you will laugh, I promise! Love to all of you. Thanks to all of you for serving the USA. And I wish all of you a terrific Thanksgiving!

Hello Dana,
Thanks for coming back to RP. This past election cycle you have talked about media accountability and the responsibility of voters to be properly informed. On an interview with Bill O'Reilly you stated that you've received push back, not only from peers in the media but also voters, about sharing facts over being a cheerleader ("a lot of republicans expect me to be a cheerleader for the candidate" - 'The O'Reilly Factor,' 18 Aug, 2016) and making excuses for Donald Trump (e.g. "I will not lie to you about the state of this race. I will not do it. No amount of peer pressure digital or otherwise can move me" -@DanaPerino). Also, post-election, "fake news" sites which offer fake and bias information on social media have been mentioned as being one of the reasons for the election outcome.
First, what peer pressure did you get and what was said to you?
Second, What do you think about the information bubble people surround themselves with? What should Americans do to be more responsible for the content they consume and the information they share? How dangerous is this media paradigm we are in and what should be done about it?

Oh I see the Vizsla! Gorgeous! Here's one thing I would say - in 2012, I bought into the idea that Romney was going to win, that the polls were skewed. And they weren't. So I said I'd never do that again. That's why I resisted it. And the national polls were mostly correct and within the margin of error. The state polls weren't as good - and besides, my hat's off to the Trump team and to the President-Elect. They sensed the country's mood, they seized the moment and they won BIG. I'm now enjoying covering the transition - I much prefer talking about governing than campaigning anyway!

Dana Perino Frst and foremost thanks for being on RallyPoint to take questions.
Three questions:
1. Do you want to be a part of the Trump Presidency as his Press Secretary?
2. Are most of the hosts on the FIVE Pro Trump?
3. How do yo feel about service dogs helping war veterans with PTSD, TBI, and other severe disabilities?

1. Tighten the confidential practice and limit the need to know
2. The hosts are pro to whom ever pays the most
3. Service dogs would benefit a lot of Verterans

Dana Perino Thanks for joining us again on RallyPoint! If you suddenly found yourself being White House Press Secretary again for the next 4 years, how would you prioritize your efforts and what would you see as your greatest challenges ahead?
Any reactions that Jasper might have are welcome as well...

I know that I'd be a better press secretary now, just having been through it and now having more experience in television. I don't believe I'll ever work in the White House again, though. As I've told folks, President-elect Trump has great people around him and he will be well served by them. And I'm too old! That job is for a younger person. Wow we worked a lot during those years. 24/7. I can't do 4 a.m. wake ups any more! But being the press secretary certainly was the best job I could ever have had. I'm so very grateful that I was chosen to serve in that way. I got to speak on behalf of President Bush, worked with such good people, ran a terrific office, and got to see the world. And believe it or not I'm still very good friends with most of the White House press corps. It was a joy. And I've reached out to let the Trump team know I'm willing to help whoever becomes the next press secretary, should they have any questions. I have a few tricks up my sleeve!

I would very much like to get back to a time and place after a presidential election that respect for the process is embraced. As a former White House Press Secretary, how would you set the tone for unity ?
May God Bless our President-Elect Trump. May we all have the civility and the fortitude as nation to support him in this critical period in our history. Maybe Jasper is a bridge to this future !!!

One thing I always did was approach the job 50-50 - 50 percent of the time was dedicated to advocating and defending the POTUS and the other 50 percent advocating and defending the press and its access to cover the government (that wasn't too hard a job for us - the president agreed with me most of the time). The other thing is I never thought that I was the press secretary just for the GOP - the RNC had an able spokesperson - I was the press secretary for everyone. And Jasper is sitting right next to me, now stretched out and passed out. He just had a dream and was kicking me like crazy but I didn't have the heart to wake him!

Dana Perino, welcome and thank you for taking the time to join us on RallyPoint. However, to preclude redundancy, I'll simply say that my sentiments and question echo those of my RP friend, Col Dona Marie Iversen.

Thanks for making yourself available for questions and being a rational and objective person on TV instead of attempting to slant the news presentation like so many others. I am curious what your opinion is on if it is possible to return the Cable news channels back to an honest and objective presentation of the news or if they are too far gone and market segmented. I realize we will never hit the 100% level but I compare the standards between the Economist Magazine and MSNBC, and it is clear there is a problem with the latter. Compare BBC with CNN, yes BBC is slanted sometimes but CNN has issues with it seems a lot more anchors attempting to inject their personal opinions in the news delivery. So that is my question, "Is it possible for us to return to a largely unbiased news reporting approach?"

Good afternoon! Well...I look at it this way - we should be omnivores when it comes to consuming news. There is so much out there to choose from - the outlets you mentioned and then a gazillion more. As with others, I tend to like to read opinion editorials that reaffirm my instincts (for me, that's the WSJ editorial page - have read it for 20 years), but I also read ALL of the main papers' editorials and all of the syndicated columnists and I feel that because of social media I'm actually a much more well rounded news consumer than ever before. So in a way, because democracy is a participatory sport, it's incumbent upon us to sample a lot of different media to reach conclusions.
