It's so common now. It happened to me. I hot all but $100 back, but it took weeks to unfreeze my account.

That’s tough, I know how nerve-wracking it is once your info gets out there. Last year, one of my insurance companies had a data breach and I spent weeks freezing accounts and monitoring credit. Strong passwords and watching out for phishing emails helped me a bit, but I still worry about my data floating around.

I read about new ways people are verifying identity that don’t hold onto your personal info. There’s actually this device called the https://world.org/find-orb that’s supposed to verify you’re a real person without saving your biometrics. Stuff like that seems like a step in the right direction for privacy.

thank you for information. I also carry all my cards even drivers license and va card inside rfi protectors I think thats what they are called it helps prevent any one walking past with a chip reader from getting anything off it. I frustrate some of the people at VA I am sure especially when they ask for my full middle name I will never give that out to anyone except family who know it. I had one person call claiming to be from va they asked so many questions even my moms maiden name I said I do not know who you are but not going to happen here.

Oh, please!! The personal at any VA location has access to all of your information. There is no patient to Doctor privacy! Even the Patient Advocate has access. You know all those healthevet messages you've sent, there supposedly a message that say, in summation, be using this site, you can't get pissed off, tell your doctor that they aren't providing adequate care, as this is harassment and you will be forwarded to a disciplinary board and your access will be suspended or denied. However, they don't tell you, or have a popup page with this information. You only find this out when they bruise through your "privilege" messages and suspend you. I asked for the signed form giving them my permission to look at my files and was told it was VA policy across the board. Privacy? Again. Please .. there is no privacy.
