Don't have many words for Bergdahl. He was a coward and deserter. Who should meet his end by firing squad. END OF STORY!!!

There's nothing more that needs be said, YOU NAILED IT. That POS should have faced a firing squad plain and simple. But maybe there's a movement to LOWER the standards of conduct for the military as has been done for the police.....slaps on the wrist for even the most egregious behavior.

Yes, I agree, and I don't get it. The only thing I can figure is that the forces in our society who are against the establishment are trying every which way to tear down the traditional foundation of this great nation, one brick at a time. Army values are the foundation of the service. Without them we are no different than a Silicon Valley start-up: do whatever, whenever and then see if it works. When lives are at stake that is a recipe for failure. Hooah!

The greater harm was done by the Commander in Chief who made the military laughing stock with this.

I am not sure if it was mentioned but PVT Birdcrap was in the Coast Guard for 26 days before he was released by mental instability problems and then the Army took him.

I don’t know the presiding officer in this case so won’t make a judgment on his ruling. I do know that there was likely many factors that inserted themselves into this highly public case. We need to honor the decision no matter how untenable and unfair it is. That is how we operate and must in order to remain the worlds greatest fighting force.

May GOD help us all. The military system has failed just as the judicial system for civilians. In this day and age people can get away with things. It is the fault of those responsible for enforcing the systems. What can be done to prevent a repeat? Only the Judge Advocate General can do something, but what is his opinion on this case? Will he do something to prevent this from happening again? Time will tell. It was once said, by Ariel Durant, "A great nation is not conquered from without until it has been destroyed from within." I sincerely hope that this is not the case for the United States, but I seriously wonder with our CIC and the Republican Party today. I feel that there is no hope for our country right now unless people get out and vote this coming November to get rid of Republicans. I do not endorse Democrats, who to me, are just as bad. I always vote independent. I hope some other will also.

The whole affair stinks to high heavens. Bergdahl deserted and good men died trying to save a Soldier they thought had been kidnapped while doing his duty. I firmly believe that President Obama made a political decision as he seized the opportunity to release five really bad Muslim actors from GITMO in order to get Bergdahl returned. In fact, it's my opinion that Obama's administration turned a clear cut case of desertion into a political circus. It indeed sets a horrible precedence.

It would have been appropriate to stand Bergdahl against a wall and shoot him. He deserved it more than Pvt Eddie Slovak, the last Soldier to be executed by firing squad during WW2. IMO the least acceptable punishment was life in Leavenworth without parole.
