I agree with her. The key is making sure women get the opportunities to lead just like men. Then we will stay on board.

Some of the best officers I served with were women. People need to see a service member when they look, not a male or female.

Deal with the MST epidemic in the military! That will also decrease the early exits.

Back in 1986 we had two female pilots, one female medic and when we got a female crewchief, we made history by have the first all female medevac crew. I was so proud. The news came out and intervied a few of up. They asked me how I felt about Women in the military. I told them that I was proud to be a part of a team that accepted us all to do a job by experience and not by sex. My 15 seconds of fame being on TV.

I was naïve when I first joined and didn't realize how few women leaders were in my direct vicinity. It didn't seem odd it just was the way things were. As I got more rank and started looking past my own area of influence and seeing the Marine Corps as a full fledged institution it became more glaring. As I crossed over to the Officer Side it was much less visible meaning there were quite a few Senior Officers in my direct Chain of Command although never my Commander even as I retired. In my entire service life I actually shook hands with only two female General Officers and half a dozen COLs/Navy Captiains. I am betting that field is a lot broader now but we still have a long road to travel to equal what the Civilian Communities are able to do.
