We went to Alaska this summer. Based on what we are hearing from down south, it sounds like it was a good choice.

"Soaring summer temperatures across southern Europe could prompt a lasting shift in tourist habits, with more travelers choosing cooler destinations or taking their holidays in spring or autumn to dodge the extreme heat, tourism bodies and experts predict1. Climate researchers say that summer heat waves will become longer, more frequent and more intense in Europe2. The new heat wave in several parts of southern Europe is expected to persist for days, and temperatures in Europe, amplified by climate change, could break the 48.8-degree Celsius (119.8-degree Fahrenheit) record set in Sicily two years ago"...

More "climate" alarms. Plenty of instances from the 19th, 20th, and 21st Century where there were extreme heat in Europe and around the World.
