Svitolina, who previously said she would not shake hands with Russian and Belarusian opponents out of respect for the men and women defending Ukraine, told reporters that she “acknowledged” Kasatkina after the match.
Kasatkina has been outspoken in her criticism of the war, describing it last year as a “nightmare,” according to the New York Times.

Acknowledgement of a sports star from Russia has little or nothing to do with the Russia-Ukraine conflict. Keeping sports and politics separate from each other is wise.

PV2 Scott Mollette, media needs a blockbuster story that captures the public interest which is why media reports are skewed and mixed with political rhetoric, propaganda and misinformation. In India, media reported the dead from the worst train disaster since 1995 as 288 which has since been corrected by investigators of the accident to 275...what happened to the 13 additional deaths reported earlier by media? Best is to corroborate news reports.
