More inappropriate behavior by the police. BUT, don't post publicly things you don't want known

It's called OPEN SOURCE. Because it is publicly available. If you don't want the cops reading your social media, you probably shouldn't put it on social media. Or at LEAST use the privacy controls to determine who sees it.

A user's document is not shouting in the streets. Have you actually read the Fourth Amendment?

The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, PAPERS, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no Warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by Oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized.

Cpl (Join to see) And FB is neither documents nor papers.

Additionally, if I walk down the street handing out a pamphlet of my beliefs, it is neither a search nor seizure if the cops accept one.

This is publicly shared information. The cops need do no searching, nor seizing.

They didn't voluntarily hand it to a cop, now did they? And "law enforcement" used fake accounts to gain access to a private group, a group that had an expectation of privacy. Where was the warrant and what was the "probable cause" to gain access to a private group? Try rereading the Fourth and then reread the oath you took.

Cpl (Join to see) Again, I reference cops going undercover.

This is information people have CHOSEN to share with the cop. That is the bottom line.

The Fourth Amendment does NOT cover information or evidence which has been VOLUNTARILY surrendered.

I have read the Fourth. I have studied the Fourth. Your insistence that it applies does not mean it actually does.

People put their personal information out there, and anyone can grab that information, not just cops. I can see the spoofing, someone named, “Leticia Jones, Detective, LAPD” on the profile is less likely to be included in the Facebook group, “let’s rob banks”, than “Jimmy Joe Bob, regular citizen.”
