I do not remember hearing this in my literature. I remember these being called limericks or just rhymes.

Thank you, my friend SGT John " Mac " McConnell for making us aware that July 10 is National Clerihew Day.
English novelist and humorist, Edmund Clerihew Bentle created a whimsical quatrain at age 16 which for some odd reason was dubbed a Clerihew :-)
After all the Clerihew [quatrain] is an abbreviated Limerick since it omits the last AKA punch line of the five-line Limerick :-)

Army veteran John 'Mac'
posts videos which elicit wisecracks
finds ludicrous national days
ensures we never part ways
