Elephant Roams Streets of Butte, Montana After Escaping from Circus: ‘Man, They Move Fast’

Fast and, even more surprising, quiet. Their feet squish out as they step to absorb their weight. I learned this first hand while photographing a family at the Los Angeles Zoo from inside the elephant pen and one "snuck" up behind me. I didn't have a clue until I turned and found myself eyeball-to-eyeball with it.
