After years of serving my country, I realized the toughest battle wasn’t overseas — it was life back home. Rising costs. Endless stress. Chasing peace that never came. So I made a bold move — I left the U.S. and started a new chapter in Da Nang, Vietnam.

I had spent most of 1968 into early 1969 at Da Nang, Vietnam and certainly something I'll never forget. Rising costs, inflation and much of it fueled from ignorance and greed right here in the United States at a level I've never seen before. Many people that came from Vietnam understand the price of losing Your freedom as they did which is something many US Citizens have no concept of. I've only seen video and pictures of Vietnam as it appears today, have been many of the places shown and the changes are amazing. New Construction, high rise buildings, tourism, commercial development. It's unlikely at age 78 now I'll ever travel that far again to visit but it's apparent it is a whole different place in the post war peacetime. I retired from the US Air Force Myself as a SMSgt with 22 years service.

SMSgt Lawrence McCarter - The 366th is now out of Mountain Homes right? You know what would be amazing? If you don't mind sharing some of those old photos you have, I can then go and visit those areas and do a then vs. now. I think that would be interesting to see.
